Chapter 5

The plane flew overseas, with the bright sun shining outside the window, the sky was clear and blue, pleasing to the eye.

I watched the scenery outside the window with great interest, and it kept changing. Sometimes there were rolling clouds,

and sometimes there was a dazzling red light.

Suddenly, there was a moment of inspiration, so I quickly grabbed a pen and paper and sketched it down.

When the sketch was completed, it was already pitch-black outside.

It’s amazing, flying from one country to another country feels like time and space travel.

It was still the morning of the 27th when taking off, but it was already late at night on the 26th when landing.

I walked out of the airport with this wonderful feeling and saw my parents and older brother standing in a row, waving at

me with big smiles on their faces, very conspicuous.

I ran over with my suitcase, and threw myself into my mother’s arms, enjoying the long-lost warmth.

Back then, for the sake of that feeling of affection in my heart, I disregarded my parents’ dissuasion and wholeheartedly

returned to the city by the sea to attend university.

They were helpless, but they could only let me go back.

Little did I know that once I left, it would be eight years before I returned, only coming back for a few days during

Christmas to alleviate their longing for family.

I was unfilial!

Feeling the tears welling up, I hastily let go of my mother.

“Mom, I was so hungry.”

Mom smiled and gently touched my cheek, her concern written all over her face. “Come on, let’s go back home and I’ll

cook your favorite pasta for you.”

“Okay.”

I held my dad’s hand with one hand and my mom’s hand with the other, walking out of the airport while talking and

laughing.

What is strikingly different from my side is Christian’s home.

At this moment, he was sitting on the ground, collapsing, repeatedly dialing my phone.

Christian, to avoid missing my birthday, sets a reminder on his phone every year, and this year is no exception.

On the morning of the 27th, he, who was sleeping in the guest room at Vanessa’s house, was awakened by the alarm

sound.

He habitually sat up and planned to go buy groceries to celebrate my birthday.

And the gift was a bracelet that had been custom-made long ago.

Just as he walked out of the living room, he saw Vanessa and hesitated again.

Because I had not apologized yet.

He couldn’t understand why, being always obedient like me, this time he was so stubborn.

Vanessa felt restless at home for half a day, and after not receiving a message from me, she finally decided to go home

and check.

But when he pushed open the familiar room, the interior decorations made him briefly doubt if he had entered the wrong

room.

He went out and came back again, and the house still had the cold tones from seven years ago.

He was dazed for a moment, rushing into the room and searching everywhere for traces of me.

He searched the entire room thoroughly, but he could not find a single item related to me.

“Why did it happen like this?”

He murmured and took out his phone to dial my number, but was almost driven crazy by the mechanical female voice.

He opened the social media app to send me a message, but was repeatedly prompted with ‘not a friend’.

If he didn’t remember clearly the time we spent together during these seven years, he would think that I was just a

figment of his imagination.

In a daze, he remembered a couple of tracking apps that we had used before.

I opened it, only to find that I had already turned off the location. In the itinerary below, half a month ago, I had used this location to get close to him, but after pausing for a long time about tens of meters away from him, I turned around and

left.

His intuition told him that something had happened that day.

As he was checking the calendar to see what day it was, his phone slipped from his hand and the screen shattered into

pieces.
