Chapter 1
“Your fiance and a woman’s genitalia were glued together. Surgical removal is the only way to separate them.”
Nevaeh Tomlinson turned around numbly after hearing the doctor’s words. “Are you saying he cheated on me?”
The doctor scratched his head awkwardly. “Yes, I’m afraid.”
Nevaeh’s heart sank completely.
She had loved Isaac Fenton for three years, believing she’d win his heart as long as she was devoted enough.
But she was utterly wrong.
She gave up everything, only to be repaid with betrayal.
After waiting for her response for several minutes, the doctor reminded her again, “Mr. Fenton will lose his male re- productive organ after the surgery. Here’s the critical condition consent form. You may sign here.
“Or
you can wait till his family gets here.”
Instead of crying or making a scene, Nevaeh appeared extremely composed. Only her dimmed eyes gave her inner feelings away.
She said, “I’ll sign it.”
It’d be putting a proper end to their three-year relationship as well as her youth.
The doctor comforted her, “Hey, at least you’re not married yet, right?”
She clenched her fists so hard that the bridal manicure she had gotten especially for the wedding dug into her palms. Forcing a smile, she felt nothing but sarcastic.
The doctor then said to a nurse standing nearby, “Inform the woman’s family to sign the critical condition consent
form.”
The nurse nodded, taking out her phone. “Alright.”
In the next second, Nevaeh’s phone rang.
“Hello there. Is this Sheena’s sister?”
The nurse’s voice rang out from Nevaeh’s phone and behind her at the same time.
She turned around in a daze and met the nurse’s gaze. “What happened to Sheena?”
The nurse sighed with a sorry look, and then leaded Nevaeh to the ER.

She pushed open the door with great force.
What came into her view was her sister Sheena Tomlinson and her fiance Isaac pressing tightly together on the oper- ating table.
On top of Isaac, Sheena sobbed, “This is so humiliating. What should we do?”
Isaac, who had always been a refined gentleman, grasped her slender waist and snapped, “Fuck! Don’t move, OK? You’re pulling my hair!”
All of a sudden, Nevaeh wanted to puke. She rushed out and started to retch while leaning against the wall.
Behind her, the doctor said awkwardly with Sheena’s form, “About signing…”
Nevaeh took a deep breath and said, her voice flat, “I’ll sign it. Give me the pen.”

The surgery lasted two hours.
After the light went out, only Isaac was wheeled out.
Sheena and Nevaeh’s parents-Kenneth Tomlinson and Florence Darwin-grabbed the doctor’s sleeves. “Where’s Sheena?”
Doctor replied, “She needs another surgery so that we can remove the male organ from her body.
“This is another critical condition consent form. You’re her parents, right? Please sign here.”
Isaac stared ahead unfocused, not yet fully recovered from anesthesia.
He could no longer call himself a man.
Maria Dudley, his aunt, staggered back a few times and slumped to the ground, her face pale.
Then she wailed so loudly that the entire floor could hear her.
“This is so unfair! Isaac’s mother died young, and he’s my only nephew! What did he do to deserve this?”
Two nurses helped her up and comforted her patiently, “Look on the bright side-at least the surgery was a success, right? Mr. Fenton is still alive.
“If he wants kids, IVF is always an option.”
Yet, Maria didn’t appreciate it at all. She spat, “Shut up! You’re up to no good! All of you!”
After saying this, Maria stormed toward Nevaeh and glared at her with bloodshot eyes.
