Chapter 24
As she looked around, she saw the gloating grins on the faces of the onlookers, which sickened her. “If you keep ha- rassing her, I’ll call the police. Maybe you won’t be arrested, but I’m sure your reputation will be down the drain.”
Jacob squinted slightly, unfazed by her threat. “Pretty, are you sure you can pull that off?”
Nevaeh sneered, “What do you think? The fact that I’m standing right here says it all. After all, I’m not a celebrity, am I? Can’t you tell I’ve got someone powerful to back me up? Do you really think you get to mess with me?”
Though she didn’t mention Erasmo’s name, her words carried enough weight.
Jacob fell silent for a few seconds before warning, “Even so, few dare to cross me. You better be careful from now on.”
Hearing this, Anson stepped forward. “Mr. Wackerman, Mr. Fenton will be here at any second. You can say that to him by then.”
Jacob was dumbfounded, his chubby body shivering due to astonishment. “Mr. Fenton?”
Meanwhile, the crowd was in an uproar. Someone whispered, “Mr. Fenton has a date?”
“What’s so great about her? She’s not that pretty. No way she’s Mr. Fenton’s date.”
“Who knows? Maybe she comes from a top-notch family. We should stay out of it.”
“You’re right. We don’t wanna get implicated. Let’s see how this plays out. What if it’s just a big misunderstanding?”
Under their gazes, though Nevaeh seemed composed, she was in fact panicking while comforting Leona.
She thought, “I caused trouble for Erasmo again. If he gets upset, I’ll be doomed…”
“Mr. Riff, since when did Mr. Fenton have a date? Is this some joke?” Jacob probed, wanting to know who Nevaeh was exactly.
“Since when do I need your permission to have a date?”
Everyone turned to see Erasmo standing nearby, his stern, expression and furrowed brows making it clear he was up-
set.
Jacob, terrified, shuddered and quickly apologized, “Erasmo, please don’t get me wrong. I didn’t mean that.”
“Is that so?” Erasmo was noncommittal. His mere presence was enough to intimidate Jacob.
Nevaeh stepped in, asking Anson for a coat and draping it over Leona. “Are you okay?”
Leona looked up gratefully. “I’m fine. Thanks for your help.”

Jacob’s earlier words against him.
Jacob was eager to have Erasmo leave, so he quickly nodded. “Do as you please.”
Nevaeh turned to Erasmo, apologizing, “Mr. Fenton, I need to help Ms. Sterling change her clothes in the lounge first.”
Erasmo raised an eyebrow. “Go ahead.”
Nevaeh smiled gratefully and then pulled Leona away from the tense scene. She owed Erasmo a favor, but leaving the mess to him wasn’t too much. She could repay him later.
In the changing room, Leona awkwardly rubbed the stain on her dress. She didn’t know what to say.
“None of these gowns suit me, and they’re so expensive. I’m afraid I’ll ruin them.”
The agent glared at her. “You also know they are expensive? You’re here for an endorsement, and you’re so lucky that Mr. Wackerman likes you. How dare you refuse?”
“I…” Leona said, tears welling up in her eyes. “Iris, didn’t you say I just had to ac

Nevaeh disliked Iris’s attitude. “Leona is being bullied, and you’re scolding her instead of helping?”
“Scolding her is the least of it. With her behavior today, she’ll never make it in showbiz. She’ll be blacklisted by to- morrow. She should be grateful she didn’t lose her life,” Iris snapped.
