Dr. Grant originally wanted to get my skeleton back for our department.
But directed donations couldn’t be changed.
I honestly didn’t care–my bones could go wherever.
But Elias sure did.
He’d mopped the spot where he was going to display me with disinfectant at least eight times.
I never thought I’d actually see what my complete skeleton looked like.
The lab technician had done meticulous work–even the fractures in my skull were perfectly reconstructed.
I was pretty satisfied with it, except Elias’s stare was giving me the creeps.
The man had completely lost it.
He actually insisted on dressing my skeleton in clothes. No one in his department dared to stop him–so he just kept spiraling out of control.
At least he put me in a white coat though. If he’d tried to dress me in some frilly dress, I might’ve had to figure out how to come back from the dead just to kill him.
Elias pulled out a diamond ring from God knows when he’d bought it.
Just as he was about to reach for my bony fingers, I frantically thought: Don’t put it on, don’t put it on.
Maybe my prayers worked.
He actually stopped.
Tears fell.
“I’m sorry.”
He hunched over as if in agony, his fingertips pressed against the acrylic case, making choked “uh… uh” sounds in
his throat.
How pitiful.
But so what?
I honestly couldn’t figure out what kind of devoted lover act he was putting on now.

My Orthopedic Boyfriend Chose His Childhood Sweetheart on the Operating Table
Chapter 12
Zora might be hard to judge, but her read on Elias was way more accurate than his self–awareness.
He wanted to have his cake and eat it too.
Just like that mango cake from the bakery I thought was always sold out.
I’d seen one in Zora’s hands before.
If I wasn’t the most important person to him, what right did he have to call himself my lover?
Love that shows up too late is more worthless than trash.
Day and night passed.
Elias looked like a corpse himself, sitting there staring at me for a full day and night.
If it wasn’t for his shallow breathing, I’d wonder which one of us was actually the specimen.
He was still the top orthopedic surgeon though.
When a car accident victim came in for emergency surgery, his colleagues nervously nudged each other forward to get him.
“Dr. Shaw, could you take a look at this reduction surgery?”
Elias seemed to snap awake suddenly. When he turned to look at the X–rays, his hands started shaking again.
There was actually fear in his eyes.
