Chapter 7
“Sister, it’s so hard to help you when you’re always so stubborn”
Then came my cries.
“Sister, why do you always have to target me? I never meant to fight you!”
“Please, just let me go, okay? I won’t come back. I promise I’ll never appear before the Meyer Family again…”
The whole Meyer Family turned to look at Jesica in shock.
She clutched her chest, her face pale and distressed.
“She–she begged me back then to say something nice on her behalf! Then she twisted it to make it seem like I was bullying her… Mom, Dad, please don’t believe her!”
Her voice wavered with practiced helplessness.
“She grabbed me back then… I was so scared. I just smiled to cover up my fear. I had no choice…”
The chat lit up with sympathy.
[Yeah, that wicked girl has been faking things with this creepy rabbit! She must’ve recorded all that stuff to frame Jesica.]
[Her reputation was destroyed and she was desperate. Now she’s trying to drag the foster daughter down with her. Poor girl–she’s too kind for her own good!]
Jack’s face turned dark. He slapped the rabbit again, but it made no sound. It was silent, lifeless. Meanwhile, Jesica’s eyes glimmered with subtle triumph even as she cried pitifully.
“At first, my sister hired someone to almost ruin me. I nearly lost my face–literally! I didn’t even tell anyone about it.”
“And when she stole my boyfriend… I still didn’t say a word. I just let it go…”
“Why is she crying to me and pretending to be innocent? Did she think everyone would actually listen to those recordings?”
My brother was furious, spitting curses through gritted teeth. “She used some wicked trick to lure us here–what, just so we could find this rabbit?!”
‘Other than her, I’m the only one who knows this rabbit can record!”
The livestream comments lit up with angry scolding.
She’s way too manipulative. I knew those recordings were fake from the start!]
No one can be misunderstood for that long and still be so sweet and desperate for love. Come on, I’d lose it in a week.]
Jack snapped, ordering everyone to shut up. He pointed at the talisman papers arranged on the altar.
‘If Anna really set all this up, would she need to curse herself in the process?”
But my brother scoffed. “She poisoned Dad. What can’t she do?”
Mom and Dad both nodded in agreement.

“She cursed Jesica in that well! That’s why she’s been in so many accidents lately. She ever used black magic to give us those awful dreams. Nothing she says can be trusted!”
Jack was so agitated he almost lit a cigarette on the spot.
“But aren’t tonight’s events just too strange for you to brush off?” he said, trying to stay calm.
“First the rabbit starts talking, then the gossip mirror shatters, the ceiling starts dripping even though the weather’s bone–dry and now the urns have fallen over!”
[Jack, this doesn’t sound like you. You’re always the one preaching science and skepticism!]
[These are just coincidences. Who knows what’s stuffed inside that altar? Don’t get hypnotized by some witchcraft.]
Jesica suddenly piped up, her voice trembling with a pitiful hint of suspicion.
“Jack… were you bribed by my sister too? Did she pay you off to make herself look innocent by setting all this up?”
That single accusation lit the fuse.
Mom, Dad and my brother exploded with rage.
“So that’s it! You’ve been defending her all this time- you’re both just actors putting on a show aren’t you?”
“Anna stole so much of my jewelry- of course she could afford to buy off some small–time anchor! Especially one who makes a living from livestream donations!”
The pop–ups turned ugly.
[Jack, be honest. Did you take that snake woman’s dirty money?]
[You just happened to find the rabbit like that? Really? And after all these years, it still had power left in it?]
[Someone definitely set this all up ahead of time. Wake up, people!]
Jack’s patience snapped.
may not be able to explain everything yet, but I know this isn’t just some scam.”
‘I stand by what I said. I’ll fix this rabbit and bring that altar to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.”
‘If you think I took bribes, show me the evidence!
Because I won’t accept false accusations. And if you’re really that suspicious-”
‘Call the police. I dare you. I’ll call them myself to clear my name. What about you?”
As soon as those words left his mouth, Jesica rolled her eyes and collapsed.
“Jesica!” Mom, Dad and my brother were so panicked they ended the livestream and rushed her to the hospital.
The doctor explained that she had suffered excessive stress and with the recent string of accidents, both her mental and physical health had taken a serious toll.
When Jesica finally regained consciousness, she sobbed and begged the family to just let her
- go.
“If I leave the Meyer Family now, I promise I won’t cause trouble anymore. I won’t say a word

about anything. But if I stay… my sister will just keep using that anchor to smear me. I don’t want to be humiliated in front of everyone. I don’t want to be canceled… I don’t want to die socially. Please…”
Dad hurried to comfort her. “Don’t worry. I’ve already reported that anchor. He won’t be going live again anytime soon.”
Brother nodded and gently reassured her. “Don’t be afraid, sis. No matter what anyone says, we believe you. Just focus on resting and getting better.”
Relieved, Jesica finally closed her eyes and drifted back to sleep. But in the middle of the night, she slowly reached for her phone under the covers and checked the screen.
Just as she’d hoped…
Jack was no longer streaming.
