Chapter 18
The punch got to Samuel. He lost a tooth and started bleeding from the mouth.
“Fuck!” He cursed under his breath, then spat out a mouthful of blood. “Connor, what the hell are you playing at, acting like some hero?
“Julie is my wife. This is a private matter! Who are you to interfere?”
Julie shot Samuel a cold glance. “Don’t forget, Samuel. You’ve already signed the divorce papers. We’re divorced.”
“Divorce? I never agreed to that,” Samuel said through clenched teeth. “Howard was the one who threatened me to sign the divorce agreement. It doesn’t count. I only signed it to use him to track you down! I love you, Julie. I don’t want a divorce. You’re my everything. I can’t live without you!”
Julie only felt repulsed by Samuel’s heartfelt confession.
She couldn’t be bothered to argue with him any further. So, she simply pulled out her phone to call the police.
Seeing this, Samuel rushed forward to stop her.
He lunged only to miss again. Connor stepped in like an immovable guardian and stood in front of Julie.
“Didn’t you hear her, Samuel? She’s already divorced from you! Leave and stop harassing her. Keep pushing your luck, and you’ll regret it!”
Samuel was already on edge. After Connor kept pushing his buttons, he finally snapped.
“You think I’m just going to take this shit, Connor?” In a fit of rage, Samuel lost all restraint. He threw a punch right at Connor’s face!
But Connor wasn’t the type to take it lying down. He seemed to have expected Samuel to attack. Before Connor’s fist could connect, Samuel sidestepped it with ease.
The two men instantly got into a full-on brawl.
Both were brimming with pent-up anger.
Samuel thought Connor was meddling in his affairs, while Connor was furious because Samuel mistreated Julie after marrying her. He had ruined the woman he once saw as an angel.
“I knew you were into Julie too, Connor! I’m going to beat you into a pulp, you shameless homewrecker!”
2/2
“You’re right. I am into Julie. You won her over, but instead of cherishing her, you cheated and broke her heart. Scumbags like you don’t deserve her!”
“You’re the homewrecker who came between a married couple. Stop acting like you’re in the right. Let me tell you something. Julie is mine. She married me, which means she’s mine for life! Don’t even think about coming between us!”
“Are you stuck in the Middle Ages, Samuel? People are allowed to get a divorce after marriage. You want to keep her chained to you forever? Keep dreaming!”
Both men were trained fighters. Connor practiced kickboxing, and Samuel had a background in boxing.
The clash was so fierce that it was hard to tell who had the upper hand.
Fortunately, Julie had already called the police.
Officers soon arrived and handcuffed both men.
“Officer, thank god you’re here,” Samuel spoke in fluent Kaubretian. “The woman who called for help is my wife. We had a bit of a misunderstanding. I was just trying to explain things to her when this man punched me!”
He jabbed a finger at Connor and said indignantly, “It’s him! He attacked me for no reason and then stuck his nose into our personal affairs! Officers, arrest him!”
