Chapter 33
Lucien didn’t even slow down as he walked straight out of the restaurant and got into the car.
Galen asked, “Mr. Fenwick, shall we head to Paradise Club or go home?”
Lucien chose the first option.
Soon, they arrived at Paradise Club. Jason hadn’t expected Lucien to show up, and he quickly greeted his uncle with a smile. “Uncle Lucien, it’s already late. If you stay here, Calista’s definitely going to storm in and cause a scene later.
“These are all my guests. I can’t afford to be embarrassed. Uncle Lucien, can you do me a favor this once?”
The lounge was packed. But the moment Lucien walked in with his overpowering presence, everyone stood up and made way for him.
Indeed, Jason had a point.
In the past, if Lucien weren’t home by 10:30 pm, Calista would either bombard his phone with calls or flood him with messages. If she got lucky and saw his location on social media, she would immediately rush over.
But not this time. Lucien hadn’t received a single message from Calista all day.
Meanwhile, Calista had just been woken up by the sound of nurses chatting nearby.
“Did you see the trending news today? Lucien Fenwick, the CEO of Fenwick Group, got caught in a scandal. He was on a date with Julia! Ugh, I’m so jealous!”
“Seriously, no matter how you look at the photos, they just look so perfect together.”
“Right? I totally agree.”
“If I ever got to sit with Lucien and drink that 30–thousand–dollar wine, I’d die happy.”
“Do you think that Julia might actually be the hidden Mrs. Fenwick? I came across a post a while back that said that Lucien was already married.”
“You know what? That might actually be true.”
In less than two hours, Julia’s social media account was flooded with comments. Her profile had become completely inaccessible.
After all, Julia was a top–tier celebrity in the entertainment industry. Even the slightest incident involving her could cause a media
storm.
“The patient just woke up, and you’ve got time to chat?” Alexander remarked.
“Dr. Lester, we were just about to make our rounds. We’ll leave now.”
The noisy chatter faded, and a second later, Alexander stepped into the room. When he saw that Calista was awake, he switched on all the lights in the room.
He walked up to her and said gently, “If there’s no one at home with you, I recommend staying in the hospital for three more days to prevent something like this from happening again.”
“I’m feeling much better now,” Calista replied.
Alexander nodded. “Hospitalization isn’t mandatory, but it’s best if you come in monthly for a checkup. What you’re experiencing is fairly common, so don’t worry. With some care and light exercise at home, you’ll gradually recover.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Can I get discharged now?”
Alexander glanced at his watch. “It’s already 11:00 pm, and your condition is still unstable. If you insist on leaving, someone from your family should come pick you up.”
Calista paused when she heard him mention “family“.
She sat on the bed and lowered her gaze. She didn’t want to trouble Rebecca again. And as for the rest of her family, there didn’t seem to be anyone else.

“I understand. Thank you for everything,” she said.
“You’re welcome. Just focus on resting for now.”
Alexander didn’t press her further. Once he saw that the oatmeal he had ordered had been delivered to her, he left.
Calista was genuinely hungry, so she didn’t turn down his kindness.
She wondered if doctors these days were always this kind. He had admitted her, covered her expenses, and even brought her oatmeal. She had never met a stranger who treated her so well.
Her nose turned slightly red as a wave of emotion washed over her.
At midnight, a Rolls–Royce pulled up at the front gate of the Juniville estate.
Lucien stepped out, reeking of alcohol. He glanced at the pitch–dark living room and frowned.
He opened the door and climbed the stairs without turning on the lights. The moonlight guided him as his steady footsteps echoed through the estate.
Lucien entered the master bedroom to find it empty. He then went to the guest room, and it was empty too. There was no sign of Calista to be seen, only a blanket lying on the floor.
Lucien turned on the light and saw a large pool of dried blood staining the blanket she had used. He picked it up and tossed it onto the bed before grabbing his phone and dialing a number without a name saved.
“We’re sorry. The number you dialed is currently unavailable.”
Lucien then called Galen and instructed, “Find out where Calista is.”
“Yes, Mr. Fenwick.”
A few minutes later, Galen found Calista’s location. “Mr. Fenwick, I’ve got it. The map shows that Ms. Marchand is at Riverview Medical Center.”
