lista leaned against the wall weakly as she left the ward. She headed downstairs and sat in the hallway. She had woken up in the iddle of the night, intending to check on Anthony.

Lucien leaned back in his seat and rested his eyes, not bothering to respond to her. Calista tactfully backed off and gave him some space. She looked out the window, watching trees blur past as the car sped on the road.
It was past 2:00 am by the time they reached the Juniville estate. Lucien had to work in the morning, meaning that he had less than five hours to sleep now.
Calista got out of the car first and stopped in front of the estate’s door. As she pulled it open, she sensed someone watching her.
Lucien swung the door closed. Just as she turned around to say something, she was suddenly shoved against the door and pinned firmly in place. She turned her head aside, feeling his warm breath on her neck and the heat of his body as he pressed close. She
had no idea what came over him. In the past, he never wanted to touch her when she was having her period.
