Chapter 50
Lucien sat in the passenger seat of the car, the dim light casting a glow over half his fa
shrouding the rest of him in darkness.

Even without looking, Calista could feel the anger radiating off him.
She had no idea what his actions back at the private room meant. Was Lucien standing up for her?
No. There was no way he would do that.
He just couldn’t stand someone humiliating “Mrs. Fenwick“. If she were stripped of that title, there was no way Lucien would have stepped in.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Lucien was, in fact, waiting for her to speak.
He rarely ever went out with Calista. The few times they did, it was usually because he had business to attend to.
In his memories, Calista had always been a talkative person. She was sharp–tongued, loud, and relentless. But now, the silence
between them was suffocating.
When they arrived at the entrance of the estate, it was Lucien who finally broke the silence. “Is there anything you would like to explain?”
Calista froze, surprise flashing across her face. She wasn’t sure if it was the chill of the night breeze, but in that moment, she felt a
coldness wash over her.
“What exactly would you like me to explain?” she asked with a look of confusion. Then, a bitter, knowing smile curved her lips.
“Lucien, do you honestly think that regardless of whether I’m right or wrong, I owe you an explanation? Do you want a written report? Or should I get down on my knees and beg for forgiveness?”
Calista was done with Lucien’s unreasonable behavior. Looking at his proud and arrogant demeanor, she couldn’t help but think about how foolish she had been all these years.
A wave of bitterness welled up in her chest. Her breathing grew uneven as she desperately tried to suppress the pain that was threatening to spill out.
Without sparing Lucien another glance, she headed inside with hurried footsteps.
Lucien followed closely behind her.
The moment they stepped inside, he grabbed Calista’s arm and yanked her back.
“Why are you being so unreasonable? I’ve already given you everything you asked for. What more do you want?” Lucien growled, his voice low and simmering with fury.
Calista’s eyes widened, bloodshot and blazing with rage. After a moment of stunned disbelief, she completely lost control of her
emotions.
She sneered. “Unreasonable? You think I’m being unreasonable? Do you honestly think our problems started in Eldoria? You’re wrong,
Lucien.
“You’re nothing but a heartless man. You’ve never loved me. You don’t know my pain. You don’t even know about that child…” Calista used every ounce of restraint to swallow those last words.
She had thought about that child again. The memory of that pool of blood had etched a deep scar in her heart. It served as a constant reminder of Lucien’s cruelty.
“What are you talking about?”
Lucien was confused. He could sense that Calista was hiding something from him, and his grip on her tightened.
He reached out and seized her chin. His fingers pressed into her delicate skin, leaving behind a faint red mark.
Lucien couldn’t help but find the sight tempting. He quickly diverted his gaze.
He wondered if he had lost his mind. Otherwise, why would he find Calista so unbearably alluring at this very moment?
“I have nothing to say or explain. I’m just a greedy woman who would do anything for money. Isn’t that what you want to hear?” Despite the tight grip around her, Calista delivered every word with composure.
“Calista, I’m giving you one last chance. Watch your mouth!”

Calista’s indifferent demeanor completely ticked Lucien off. He didn’t know if it was the alcohol, but he could feel something deep inside him threaten to break loose.
