Sierra really was starving. She didn’t say a word and finished a whole bowl of soup before she finally felt human again. Once her strength returned, she was ready to settle the score with Johnathan.
“Professor Yaager! You’re a scientist too. You know how much a man can release in his entire life. If you overdo it, don’t blame me when it affects your… quality of life later.”
She didn’t have to spell it out.
Johnathan burst out laughing. “Don’t worry. Even when I’m eighty, you’ll never be unsatisfied.”
Sierra’s face turned bright red. She couldn’t quite match his shamelessness.
After a bit of back–and–forth, Johnathan kissed her and said, “Everything’s ready. We can leave tonight. You can sleep on the plane. We’ll arrive just as the sun’s coming up.”
Sierra rolled her eyes. They were leaving tonight, and he’d still gone that hard on her last night?
Johnathan looked a little guilty and quickly pushed all the blame onto White.
“It’s all White’s fault. If it hadn’t been for that drinking contest, I wouldn’t have been like that.
“Enough.”
Sierra didn’t want to hear his excuses. He’d still had his senses about him–he wasn’t completely out of control.
He just used the alcohol as an excuse to indulge his own desires.
He never got enough on a normal day, but last night, he had his fill.
Still, Sierra wasn’t mad. Lately, Johnathan had been too calm. So calm it was starting to worry her.
Letting loose like this was probably a good thing. It reassured her.
Sometimes, people just needed a release.
After that, Sierra didn’t have to lift a finger. She lay on the couch giving directions while Johnathan ran around packing everything up.
Right before they left, they got a call from Dickson.
He’d been on break for a while now, but he was tagging along with Mateo to work on a new project. Since he was on his own, he figured he’d learn as much as he could. He said they’d come over together later.
On New Year’s Eve, Mateo had already said Dickson should stay with the Yi family. His parents actually liked Dickson a lot–thought he was way more sensible than Mateo.
Sierra had asked several times to make sure he was okay with it, and Dickson never showed the slightest hesitation. That finally set her mind at ease.
That night, she and Johnathan boarded a flight to a remote island. Sierra slept through the trip, and when

she woke up, the plane was just landing.

Johnathan reached out a hand to her as they stepped off the plane. This island was one of the private ones he owned–farther than the last one they visited, but with a different kind of beauty.
Everything had been prepped in advance. All that was left was for them to move in.
Johnathan hadn’t kept anyone on the island. He sent everyone away. Just him and Sierra.
They rested for a bit, then in the afternoon, got ready to head out to sea.
Sierra had fallen in love with sea fishing last time, and now that it was just the two of them, it was even easier. They loaded the boat with snacks and supplies, planning to drift out for two or three days.
Sierra didn’t set up any bait stations. For her, fishing was just a fun hobby. She and Johnathan took a laid- back approach on the boat.
Even so, they still had pretty good luck. It didn’t take long before the fish started biting.
Sierra waited a bit, then began reeling in her line. It felt heavy, and a big smile spread across her face.
“Professor Yaager, I think this one’s huge.”
“Need a hand?” Johnathan asked.
“Not yet.”
Sierra shook her head, focused on the fight. After quite a struggle, she finally landed the fish–a nearly three–pound black seabream.
Black seabream was delicious–great as sashimi’or steamed, especially when fresh like this.
Johnathan said, “I’ll take care of it. Want to keep fishing?”
“Sure!” Sierra was riding high–this was the biggest fish she’d ever caught.
Whether it was just her lucky day or the fact that few people fished in these waters, she soon caught two more. Not as big as the first–about a pound each–one was a sea bass, the other a butterfish.
Still, Sierra was thrilled. Nothing felt better than reeling something in.
Johnathan had already cleaned the black seabream. Since it was a big one, he made part of it into sashimi, steamed the rest, and added a vegetable dish and some fruit. It was more than enough for both of them.
They sat on the deck, eating and enjoying the sea breeze, completely relaxed.
Sierra even drank a little, resting against Johnathan’s chest. Neither of them spoke–they just sat quietly together, watching as the sun slowly dipped below the horizon.
Bathed in the golden glow of the sunset, they kissed deeply, wrapped up in each other.
Drifting on the ocean, Sierra felt like she’d become a boat herself–floating, weightless, completely lost
