Sierra couldn’t help but smile. Sometimes, Johnathan’s way of speaking was truly sharp.
Yaron clearly remembered what had happened last time. If it had just been Sierra, he might have stayed longer, but with Johnathan here, he couldn’t keep up the act. He quickly said, “Mr. Johnathan, I just came to check on Sierra. I have class now, so I’ll get going. You two talk.”
Then he left in a hurry.
Johnathan walked over and naturally placed his hand on Sierra’s forehead again. Feeling that her temperature had gone down, he finally pulled back.
He pushed aside the glass of water Yaron had poured and instead poured her a fresh one. Only then did he speak. “What did he want?”
“No idea.”
Sierra shook her head. She couldn’t care less about Yaron.
But as she thought about something else, she hesitated for a moment and glanced at Johnathan uncertainly.
“Something on your mind?”
Johnathan asked.
Sierra hesitated even more.
Strictly speaking, she and Johnathan weren’t that close. He didn’t even know that she was Tano, yet he had helped her multiple times.
“If there’s something, just say it. Didn’t I tell you already? Stop carrying everything alone.”
Johnathan remained standing by her bedside.
Sierra’s heart wavered for a moment, and before she could stop herself, she said, “Can you help me find someone?”
“Who?”
Johnathan asked directly.
“Her name is Daphne. She was in prison too. My number was 00061. Hers was 00060.”
At the mention of her prison number, Johnathan glanced at her but didn’t say anything.
“Alright.”
He didn’t ask why she wanted to find this person. He simply agreed.

Sierra felt a weight lift off her chest. She spoke slowly, “She’s already dead. I just want to know if her family is okay. If possible. I’d like an address.”
Johnathan nodded again. He pulled out his phone, typed something, then looked at her.
“Will solving this let you sleep better?”
Sierra was caught off guard. She hadn’t expected him to notice.
“The school nurse said you were restless even while getting the IV”
That was his explanation.
Sierra thought for a moment and nodded. “Maybe.”
It had been a long time since she had slept well. If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, she wouldn’t have believed such horrors existed in this world.
Just like if she hadn’t lived through it herself, she wouldn’t have known how deep madness could go.
“Thank you for today, Johnathan. You’ve helped me so many times–I don’t even know how to repay you.”
Sierra changed the subject. She didn’t want to dwell on heavy topics.
“If you want to repay me, get better soon and focus on your research. I want to see if you can surprise me.”
Johnathan said casually.
“Don’t worry.”
Sierra smiled. Even if he hadn’t reminded her, she would’ve worked hard on it. Her grandmother’s health wouldn’t hold up forever.
After finishing her IV, she felt much better and didn’t want to lie down any longer. She got up to leave.
“Where to? I’ll drive you.”
Johnathan asked.
Sierra thought for a moment, then said, “The hospital.”
Her grandmother had a private room with a small couch where she could rest for a bit.
Besides, she had nowhere else to go.
Despite living in a huge city, she had no home of her own.
Johnathan glanced at her but said nothing. He simply led her to his car.
Maybe it was because Johnathan was there, but Sierra felt at ease. Without realizing it, she drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, she realized they weren’t heading to the hospital.

As he spoke, Johnathan smoothly turned into a gated community, parked the car, and opened the door, signaling for her to get out.
Before Sierra could say anything, he added, “I have some questions about your research. I need your help.
Her chest felt warm.
She knew Johnathan was only saying that to protect her pride.
He knew she had nowhere to go, so he brought her home.
Her lips curled up slightly. “Mr. Johnathan, being too humble is just fake modesty. Careful with that.”
Then, she stepped out of the car and said plainly, “Thanks for taking me in. I really don’t have anywhere else to go.”
She was straightforward.
Johnathan had already seen her at her lowest. There was nothing to hide.
“Oh, by the way, do you provide meals too?”
She was really hungry.
She hadn’t eaten a single thing since morning.
Johnathan raised a brow. “Yeah. You do the dishes.”
