Chapter 10
Two months later, Liam bought a plane ticket and flew all the way to the country Ivy and I had migrated to.
Looking exhausted and weary, he approached us and said, “I’m sorry, Yvonne, Ivy. I was wrong.”
Ivy and I hadn’t seen Liam in months. He looked extremely worn out.
He stared at me with an emotional look on his face. Then, he got down on his knees and begged me to come back to him.
“I shouldn’t have been so arrogant, Yvonne. I was too full of myself. I hurt you and repeatedly tried to force you to prove your love to me,” he cried.
“At first, I was just angry. I thought you were a sleazy woman, and I eventually grew to hate you because of that. I completely forgot that I also had a crush on you at the very beginning.
“I cast you and Ivy aside for years, but I’ve come to my senses now. I’ve finally realized how much you love me. Would you please give me another chance?” he begged with a shaky voice.
If Liam had come to me like this in the past, I would’ve been over the moon.
I had dreamt of starting a family with Liam for the longest time. In fact, I even documented the feelings I had for him in multiple diaries.
After we got married, Liam stumbled upon my diaries. Despite the fact that he tossed them aside with disdain, I still stored everything in a safe place.
Before I terminated my residency and left the country with Ivy, I burned every single one of those diaries. I no longer loved him back then, and I still felt the same way after all these
months.
“I left you a copy of our divorce papers, Liam. Even if you refuse to accept the divorce, I’ve already terminated my residency. As far as the law is concerned, we are no longer husband and
wife.
“You and Amy still have feelings for each other. Since you like her and her daughter so much, you might as well get back together with her.
“You’re right, Liam. I used to love you, but I haven’t entirely lost my self-respect. Ivy and I are doing perfectly fine without you,” I said in an indifferent manner.
Liam instantly began to panic. Still kneeling on the ground, he crawled his way toward me and yelled, “No! This is all a huge misunderstanding!”
Then, he claimed that there was nothing between him and Amy.
“I felt sorry for Amy because she’s raising a child on her own. So, I wanted to help her take care of Jenna to ease her burden. I might’ve loved her in the past, but I know what kind of person she truly is now. She was the reason all those reporters were at the hospital.
“She just wanted to marry me for the money! Please, Yvonne… I’ve got it all figured out now. You’re the woman I truly love,” he begged.
I pushed him away without a shred of emotion. Then, I knelt down and asked Ivy, “Do you want to forgive him, Ivy?”
Ivy glanced at me with a calm expression and shook her head. “Nope, I don’t have a dad anymore. My classmates were right-I’m just a bastard without a father.”
Then, she continued, “But that doesn’t matter to me now. You’re all I need, Mommy.”
Liam looked devastated.
I smiled and proceeded to ask Liam to leave.
“You should go, Liam,” I said.
Wearing a neat suit, I checked the time on my watch and continued, “I still have a business meeting to attend. There’s millions of dollars on the line.”
After Ivy and I moved abroad, I’d already secured numerous business deals and earned tens of
millions of dollars.
Liam, on the other hand, was so preoccupied with searching for us that he completely neglected his work. As a result, his company fell to ruins.
After he heartlessly cut ties with Amy, she took revenge on him by exposing the extramarital affair they’d been having overseas to the press. Overnight, his company’s stock prices plummeted, and he was forced to declare bankruptcy.
I casually followed the news about his downfall before returning my attention to my work.
