Chapter 17
Arabella’s back was covered in cold sweat as she hurriedly ran to the counter, intending to announce a missing person.
“Mom!”
The crisp and lively call came from the crowd.
Arabella suddenly turned around and locked eyes with Daisy.
Zackary, who lifted her high up in the air.
He appeared here, whether by chance or intention, Arabella had no time to investigate.
She pushed through the crowd and hurriedly squeezed her way to their side.
Just as there was only one person between them, someone from behind gave Arabella a push, causing her to lose her
balance and fall forward.
Caught firmly.
It had a familiar taste.
Hasn’t Zackary’s preferences changed at all after all this time?
Zackary steadied Daisy with his right hand, while he wrapped his left arm tightly around Arabella’s waist, creating a safe
space for them.
Like the backbone that supported a family.
Arabella caught her breath for a moment, expressing gratitude and apologizing, wanting to steady herself.
People coming and going did not give her this opportunity.
She had to maintain the posture sticking to Zackary.
Zackary looked apologetic and said, “I know you were feeling very uncomfortable, but for now, you have to bear with it.”
“What do you need? I’ll help you get it.”
She had been anticipating maintenance for six years, and when she gave up hope and stopped expecting it, it suddenly
arrived.
Fate played a joke on true love.
Arabella took some essentials and was pushed and squeezed by the crowd to complete the payment.
Walking out of the mall entrance, she turned around immediately and hugged Daisy, politely sending Zackary to the car, saying, “Thank you for today.”
As the car drove away, Daisy looked up at her and asked, “Mom, was he chasing after you?”
Arabella burst into laughter immediately and said, “Have you ever seen someone pursue someone like this?”
Ryan could tell from her expression that there was something on her mind, so she offered a clue. “These large screens are controlled by the front desk together.”
The next day, flowers and gifts arrived at the same time, and Arabella placed them outside the house.
On the third day, Zackary sent an invitation, offering the same position with double the Compensation and Benefits.
Arabella politely declined.
On the fourth day, two more front-row tickets for the musical appeared at the door, with a note saying, “Relax and enjoy
with Daisy.”
His gift was like a leaf on a Christmas tree.
There was everything, and nothing was ever the same.,
Finally, when he brought eight big boxes all at once and said they were birthday gifts for Daisy, Arabella realized
something was wrong.
She picked up the business card, which had already started to turn slightly yellow around the edges and hesitated before making the call.
It rang for only a second, and the other side picked up.
Arabella had not had time to tidy up her words yet.
“Arabella?”
Even through the phone, she could hear the excitement on the other side.
Other parents were so envious. “We had heard that Mr. Hansen was famous for doting on his wife, and now we can see
that it’s true!”
Half a month later, the two of them sat face to face once again.
Arabella pushed the accumulated gifts in front of him and said, “These don’t need to be given later.”
The excitement on Zackary’s face faded away, and he forced a smile, saying, “Don’t you like it?”
“No, it wasn’t necessary.”
Arabella spoke in a calm tone, saying slowly, “Daisy was born out of my selfishness, she shouldn’t have been your
responsibility and burden.”
“We tormented each other for six years, and now being able to chat peacefully is the best outcome.”
“I will move back to my home country soon. I wish you all the best here.”
Zackary’s face suddenly changed, and he hurriedly grabbed her hand, “Is… is it because I came?”
“I had thought about waiting for some more time, but I just couldn’t resist…”
I don’t know what he couldn’t resist, but it couldn’t possibly be that he liked her.
Arabella left no room for misunderstanding as she explained, “No, Daisy isn’t accustomed to the climate here, and she prefers our home country. We had already planned to return after this winter.”
Zackary’s eyes drooped down, like a wet puppy.
“That’s all I have to say, take care of yourselves.”
Seeing Zackary now, she no longer had that overwhelming feeling of suffocation.
Time is a wonderful thing.
Once thought of as an insurmountable mountain, it turned out to be a small mound at my feet when I looked back.
Arabella wanted to leave absentmindedly.
Other parents promptly acted as lackeys. “Exactly, just a lowly bitch, and she still wants to establish herself as a female
CEO?”
In the past, her phone calls were snubbed and avoided.
But now he is begging her like this.
The human’s sense of discontentment is truly powerful.
It can completely distort their usual appearance.
Beneath Arabella’s calmness, there arose a subtle absurdity and sadness.
She did not answer and nodded at him before leaving.
Chapter 18
Arabella left his world for the third time.
Compared to the first time’s swiftness and the second time’s secrecy, this time, they bid farewell properly.
But it was even more painful than the previous two times.
She went further.
Zackary didn’t want to burden and alienate her by staying by her side, so he forced himself to stay in a foreign country for
one more year.
I bought the cottage where Arabella had lived, coveting its only remaining warmth and traces.
Arabella returned to her home country.
Even before going abroad, she had already arranged their accommodation, Daisy’s school, and her job in advance.
In the same industry, there were also many familiar faces coming and going.
There were two of her former juniors on the project team.
I was very happy to see Arabella.
She, as the leader of the project team, gathered everyone together for a meal.
In a daze, the colleague at the door whispered gossip, “Tsk tsk, Mr. Jefferson personally accompanied him to handle the
onboarding.”
The company had a list for the project team, but she thought that they would have a meal anyway, so she didn’t bother to read it carefully and planned to introduce them later.
“Oh, it was Gina, in charge of public relations for our team.”
A familiar name.
What a small world it was.
Such a narrow circle.
Arabella nodded calmly, sensing that something was about to go wrong.
Sure enough.
On the third day of the project team’s preliminary preparations, the collaborative content was leaked.
After investigation, it was found that Gina’s USB drive had been stolen.
This project was worth one hundred million.
The loss has reached millions.
The group sent someone to investigate personally.
