“Mom!” Cameron raised his voice. “I’ve told you that I’ll never leave Cassie. How many times do I need to repeat myself before you all understand?”
“Fine. If you won’t end it, then I’ll do it for you!”
As he spoke, Simon pulled a few photos out of his bag and threw them at Cassandra’s feet with a sharp smack. “Cassandra, these photos must look familiar to you, don’t they?”
Cassandra instantly spotted the bold letters on the photo-“Rochester Hotel“.
She had stayed up all night comforting Daisy and was completely exhausted. On her way down the stairs, she nearly missed a step, and Javier reached out to steady her.
But the photos were taken from just the right angles, making it seem like Javier was holding her by the waist. The two of them appeared unusually close.
Simon pointed at Cassandra and asked, “Are you really going to deny that the woman in these photos is
you?”
Cassandra admitted without hesitation, “It’s me, but I’d like to know who gave you these photos.”
“You’ve admitted it, and that’s all I needed. Who sent them doesn’t matter,” Simon said.
“Was it Ryan?” she asked.
Cameron had once told her Ryan had seen her and Javier walk out of the hotel that morning with his own eyes. Given how precisely the photos were taken, it was almost certain Ryan had something to do with
this.
Simon said, “So what if it was him? Cassandra, a person should have some sense of shame. After what you’ve done, how do you still have the nerve to be part of the Dorsey family?”
“I never intended to cling to your family!” Cassandra shot back. “It was Cameron who pursued me, from eighth grade all the way to senior year. He spent five years trying to win me over before I finally said yes!”
Grace cut in, “He was just a kid back then. He had no idea what kind of woman you actually were.”
Simon added, “Now that everything is out in the open, we’re done putting up with this. We’ve tolerated it
long enough. You and Cameron must get divorced, and the sooner the better!”
Cassandra scoffed. “Mr. Simon, we’re on the same page on this. I’d love to head to the courthouse and get it done today.”
The moment Cameron heard her say “Mr. Simon“, he quickly corrected her. “Cassie, that’s not right. We’re family.”
She replied, “We’re getting divorced anyway. It makes no difference.”
Chapter 17
Just then, the doorbell rang.
“Hello, is this Ms. Blake’s residence? You have a local delivery. Please sign for it.”
It was probably the items Daisy had sent her.
Cassandra walked over, opened the door, and signed for the package. Daisy had sent her a large box. Through the gaps, she could see some clothes and a few snacks. Of course, the printed documents had
been tucked inside as well.
As Cassandra carried the box upstairs, Cameron quickly came over. “Cassie, let me help you.”
“Ah–my stomach! Why does it hurt all of a sudden?”
Annabelle suddenly collapsed. “Cam… help me. Save our baby…”
