Chapter 21
“I’m going to Stokelle with Daisy for a short trip. Her next project is filming there, so I figured I’d go and have some fun,” Cassandra said.
As soon as Daisy’s name came up, Cameron looked suspicious. “Really?”
“You can check with her agent if you don’t believe me.”
Cameron gave a dry laugh. “Daisy is your go–to cover story. Last time, you used her as an excuse to go out, but it turned out to be a lie. Honestly, I don’t trust you when it comes to this.
“Believe what you want.” Cassandra pushed past him and pulled her suitcase downstairs.
He was about to stop her again, but his phone rang at the exact moment. He glanced at the caller ID, hesitated for a few seconds, and then finally picked up. “Annabelle?”
A muffled voice came through the line.
“Alright. Got it. I’ll head over right now.”
After ending the call, Cameron turned to her. “Something happened to Annabelle. I need to go to the hospital. Cassie, are you really going to Stokelle just to travel?”
Cassandra replied, “Stokelle’s a big city. You can check the flight records yourself if you really
want to.”
He finally nodded and said, “Be careful on your way. Call me if anything happens.”
Then, he rushed out and drove off.
As Cassandra reached the door, Lisa glanced at the suitcase, looking like she wanted to say something. However, she held back.
Cassandra spoke up before she could. “You don’t need to make those soups anymore. Switch to ginger tea. It’s good for the baby.”
Lisa’s eyes widened in surprise. “Mrs. Dorsey, are you expecting?”
“I’m not, but this house is probably getting a new Mrs. Dorsey soon, and she is. If you have time, start looking into some ginger tea recipes. You’ll be needing them soon.”
To be fair, Lisa had been hardworking and dedicated over the years. Of course, the pay she received from Cameron was generous, roughly three times the market rate. She had a disa son at home, so this job meant a great deal to her

Giving her a heads–up was the least Cassandra could do. It was her way of honoring the years they had spent under the same roof.
Chapter 21
Daisy’s van pulled up shortly after. Her assistant, Sally Park, stepped out to help Cassandra load the suitcase into the vehicle. Sally was just a woman herself, and the two of them struggled under the weight of the suitcase.
She joked, “Cassandra, are you heading out for a job interview or moving out for good? This suitcase is heavier than our makeup artist’s kit.”
Cassandra replied, “You’re right. I’m moving.”
She had already donated most of her clothes, shoes, and bags. She didn’t own much herself. Most of what she was bringing with her had come from her parents‘ house before they passed away. They were pieces of her childhood.
After the house was torn down, Cameron helped her move all those belongings to their current villa. But now, it was time for her to take it all and leave.
Daisy urged in a low voice, “Come on, hurry up and get in.”
Cassandra and Sally climbed in. The driver quickly shut the door and sped off.
Cassandra took the seat beside Daisy and chuckled at the sight of her outfit. “We’re in a car. Do you really need the cap and sunglasses?”
Daisy pouted. “You have no idea how annoying the paparazzi are. I went out for a night jog yesterday and stopped for some grilled squid at a food stall. They caught the whole thing on camera.”
“Grabbing grilled squid doesn’t sound like a scandal,” Cassandra said.
“But I got oil all over my shirt,” Daisy said. “I’m supposed to be an innocent sweetheart. That image is totally ruined.”
Sally couldn’t help but laugh. Daisy’s agent, Ella Roger, had already released a statement to the
press.
“Don’t worry, Daisy. It’s all taken care of. Now, your fans are saying you’re down–to–earth. They love you even more,” Sally said.
“Enough about me,” Daisy said as she shoved a paper bag into Cassandra’s hands. “Wear this for your interview on Monday. I picked it out just for you.”
