Chapter 27
Cassandra struggled to get down, but Ryan stopped her. “Don’t move. There are cameras in the elevator.”
When the elevator reached the basement level, Ryan still wouldn’t let her down, saying there were cameras there too. In the end, he stuffed her into the car and drove out of the hotel. After a while, he finally said, “Okay, you can come out now.”
Cassandra hurriedly pulled the jacket off her head, taking big gulps of fresh air.
Ryan looked at her, amused. “So? I kept my word, didn’t I?”
Her cheeks were flushed red from being smothered inside the jacket, her eyes watery from the lack of air. Her lips were bright and pink, making her look charming and sweet. “I almost suffocated in there!”
Ryan’s gaze lingered on her lips for a moment, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he gulped. Then, he quickly looked away.
Cassandra didn’t notice it at all. She suddenly thought of something else. “No! If Cameron can’t find me, he’ll definitely go looking for Professor Myers!”
“Let him.”
Hearing that made Cassandra angry. “Did you take the photos from earlier?”
“What photos? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Seeing how stubborn he was about denying it, Cassandra knew right away he had everything to do with it.
She said, “What’s your obsession with Cameron Attorney Scott? You really do go above and beyond.”
“I think, instead of wasting time arguing with me, you should hurry up and call your dear Professor Myers. Otherwise, I’m afraid Cameron might really beat him to death.”
Cassandra glared at him fiercely, then quickly called Javier.
Javier said, “Me? I’m not at the hotel anymore. After I finished arranging the exchange group’s accommodation, I left. I’m already on my way back.”
Cassandra asked, “Professor Myers, do you live far away?”
“Yeah, I do. The budget the university gave us was too tight, so we’re staying in a little hotel on the edge of town.”
Hearing that, Cassandra finally felt a little relieved. Cameron wasn’t going to chase 1 across the city just to beat him up.

Then, another call came in. It was Cameron. However, Cassandra blocked his number without a second thought.
Ryan raised an eyebrow. “Doing that just makes you look guilty.”
“It’s all thanks to you.”
“Hey, I was the one who figured out a way to get you out today. Can’t you be a little more reasonable?”
“Reasonable? If it weren’t for the photos you took of me and Professor Myers, Cameron wouldn’t have come at all!” At this point, she suddenly realized something. “Wait. You’ve been trying to break us up, right? But by doing this, he’ll just keep coming after me. What are you really after?”
Ryan let out a sarcastic laugh. “I didn’t expect him to care so much about you.”
“Well, sorry to disappoint you. Even if he thinks I cheated on him, I can still win him back. Attorney Scott, I’m telling you, why don’t you just give up? From all my years with him, I can guarantee that he’s totally straight. You’ll never turn him.”
Ryan raised an eyebrow. “Are you that confident?”
“Of course. We’ve been married for so many years and have had thousands of meals together. We’ve shared the same bed tons of times-”
Ryan suddenly slammed on the horn, cutting her off.
The sharp sound made Cassandra frown. “What are you doing? There aren’t even any other cars on this empty road. Why are you honking all of a sudden?”
But the next second, she realized that his expression had turned completely dark. It was totally different from his usual playful demeanor. It was filled with surging anger.
He was furious.
Cassandra finally reacted and snapped back, “Are you mad because I’ve slept with him? Attorney Scott; you’re really being ridiculous with this jealousy of yours. Cameron’s a normal guy. It’s impossible that he wouldn’t have any desi-”
She hadn’t even finished saying the word “desire” when Ryan suddenly slammed the akes. Shut up. Don’t say another word!”
