Chapter 48
Harold got caught red–handed, and the call was cut off.
Cameron felt a bit annoyed. He had been listening so intently, and now, he couldn’t hear Cassandra’s voice anymore.
It took quite a while before Harold called back. “Mr. Dorsey, I just got caught.”
Cameron snapped, “I told you to be careful! How did you get busted so easily?”
Harold sounded a little wronged. “It was Ms. Green who messaged me, asking where you were. The screen lit up, and Ms. Graham caught–me.”
Cameron felt a wave of frustration bottling up in his chest. “Block her.”
“Is that really okay? She’s carrying your child. What if there’s an emergency and she can’t reach anyone?”
Cameron replied, “Don’t worry. My parents are watching her like hawks. You don’t need to be in contact with her.”
Harold could only agree. “Alright, I’ll block her in a minute.”
“Well…” Cameron suddenly remembered Cassandra and Daisy’s conversation and couldn’t help but smile. “If Cassandra buys anything in secret, just pretend you didn’t see it, got it?“,
Harold asked, “You mean the shirt?”
“Whatever it is, just act like you know nothing. Don’t ruin her surprise.”
Harold slapped his forehead. “Oh, right! Next month is your wedding anniversary!”
Cameron’s mood lifted. “That’s right. It’s our anniversary. She’s planning a surprise for me, so I should pick out something really special for her too.”
Harold said, “It sounds like she’s finally starting to come around. She must’ve realized you’re the one who really cares about her. She’s probably using this gift as a way to make it up to you.

Those words hit Cameron right in the heart. Just like that, all the gloom and frustration from earlier vanished. He suddenly felt energized, like he could take on the world.
“Harold, order those roses from Virelia for me again. Find a few gardeners to plant them in the conservatory at home. And from now on, order every rose in Stokelle and have them sent to her room every day. Also, thank Ryan for me. I’m sure he put in a good word with Cassandra and helped her come around.”
Harold replied, “Got it. I’ll make sure Mr. Scott gets your thanks. Just one thing…”
“What is it?”
“Ms. Graham hit me with her high heel. Does that count as a work injury?”
After ending the call, Cameron was still in a good mood. He hummed a little tune as he walked
home.
Opening his closet, he pulled out all his old shirts. “Lisa, take these and throw them out
tomorrow.”
Lisa was shocked. “All of them? What will you wear?”
Cameron grinned. “Don’t worry. Cassie will be buying me new ones soon.”
Back in Stokelle, at Westwood Hotel, Daisy locked the bedroom door behind her. “Cameron is seriously creepy. He even has Harold spying on our conversations.”
Cassandra barely even thought about Cameron these days.
Thanks to Ryan, she had a packed schedule here. Every morning, she made a bed full of towel animals for him. At noon, she delivered his lunch, and at night, she even had to walk his dogs.
Ryan must have lost his mind because he had bought three Mastiffs to keep in his suite. They weren’t puppies but full–grown dogs. When those three dogs started running, they could practically carry her off like a kite in the wind.
Daisy ground her teeth. “He’s just taking out his anger on you. He knows you’re determined not to go back to Cameron, so he’s giving you hell.”
Cassandra just rolled her eyes. She was supposed to be a hotel manager, only serving guests. But Ryan insisted that since he paid for his room, he counted as a guest–actually, a VVIP→ and demanded she personally serve him. Otherwise, he’d fire her.
But really, all that room money just ended up back in his own account. It was just another excuse to torment her. He wasn’t just a micromanager; he was a total tyrant.
Daisy was baffled. “What’s his problem? Why is he treating you like public enemy number one? Is he secretly in love with Cameron or something?”
Cassandra snorted. “I used to wonder, but I don’t think so. I actually met his girlfriend yesterday.”
