Chapter 55
As Ryan drove, he kept glancing over at Cassandra, who was seated in the front passenger seat. “Where are we headed now?”
“To the Dorsey estate, where Simon and Grace live.” She wanted to confront Simon and Grace.
Ryan nodded and steered the car toward the Dorsey estate.
Once the car stopped, Cassandra jumped out and stormed up to the door, pounding on the doorbell without stopping.
A housekeeper opened the door. “Cassandra? What are you doing here so late? Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey are already asleep. Maybe you could come back tomorrow?”
Cassandra brushed right past her into the house, heading straight for Simon’s study. She grabbed his favorite painting and tore it into pieces.
The housekeeper rushed in, completely stunned. “Oh my God, what are you doing? That’s Mr. Dorsey’s most treasured piece!”
“Most treasured?” Cassandra let out a cold laugh. “Well, since they destroyed what I loved most, they should know how it feels to have their own precious things ruined!”
She turned to Ryan and held out her hand. “Mr. Scott, got a lighter?”
“Yeah.”
He placed the lighter in her palm, then crossed his arms and leaned against the wall to watch
the show.
Cassandra lit up the shreds and tossed them right into Simon’s storage cabinet, where he kept
all his artwork.
The housekeeper nearly fainted from shock. “Cassandra, please stop! Someone, help! Hurry, someone get water! Put out the fire!”
Cassandra opened the window, letting the wind blow in. The flames grew, quickly spreading through the whole cabinet and setting all the paintings inside ablaze.
The housekeeper tried to save them, but Ryan stopped her. “Maria, you’d better stay out of the way or you’ll get burned.”
Maria Watson was an old housekeeper of the Dorsey family and knew Ryan well.
“Ryan, thank goodness you’re here! Please call Cameron and get him to handle Cassandra!”
“Cameron can’t control Cassandra,” Ryan said with a faint smile. “And just so you know, I brought her here tonight.”

Maria stared in disbelief. “Ryan, you…”
The chaos finally woke Simon and Grace. They rushed in wearing pajamas, just in time to see the storage cabinet full of precious art in flames.
Cassandra was holding the last painting that she had just taken off the wall, about to toss it into the flames.
“Stop! What are you doing? Have you lost your mind?” Simon lunged, trying to grab the painting from her hands.
But Cassandra was faster and threw it right into the fire. The flames swallowed it instantly. She dusted the ash from her hands, smiling lightly. “You’re too late. It’s all gone.”
Simon was shaking with rage, his finger trembling as he pointed at her. “How dare you touch my treasures!”
“That’s because you touched my Snowball!” Cassandra shouted back. “Mr. Dorsey, I was ready to walk away and never cross paths with Cameron again. But after what you did to Snowball, I have to get revenge!”
“You bitch!” Simon lifted his hand to slap her. But before he could bring his hand down, a strong hand seized his wrist tightly.
