Chapter 67
Cassandra had been arrested.
It was all over the newsfeed. In the photo, she was in handcuffs, being escorted by two policewomen into the back of a police car.
The headline read, “Elite Marriage Built on Liés! Golden Boy Betrayed by Greedy Bride!”
Cameron stared at the picture and the headline, completely stunned.
Ryan enlarged the news article and read through it in detail.
The gist was that Cassandra had supposedly set her sights on Cameron from the beginning, seducing him to climb the social ladder. She had him completely smitten, even willing to go against his parents for her.
Simon and Grace were portrayed as heartbroken parents who had tearfully begged her to let their son go. But Cassandra allegedly demanded 100 million in return.
With only one son, Simon and Grace were forced to swallow their pride and pay her off.
But after receiving the money, Cassandra refused to keep up her end of the bargain and continued to blackmail them, her greed knowing no bounds.
Simon and Grace, unwilling to create a public scandal but unable to bear her threats any longer, had finally chosen to call the police.
Ryan zoomed in on one of the pictures, frowning slightly.
He realised that the background wasn’t his house in Hannover. It was the villa where Cassandra and Cameron had once lived together.
He distinctly remembered leaving this morning with Cassandra still sound asleep at his place. So, why had she suddenly gone back to the villa and ended up getting arrested?
Without a word, he put away his phone and dashed out of the hospital room.
Cameron immediately shouted, “Ryan, I’m coming with you!”
But Ryan’s figure had already disappeared into the elevator before he’d even finished speaking.
Cameron tried to follow, but he was stopped by a doctor. “Mr. Dorsey, are we going ahead with the abortion procedure?”
Cameron, teeth clenched in frustration, snapped “Yes! I’ve got things to take care of. Call me when it’s over.”
He sprinted toward the elevator. But as the doors opened, there stood two people he knew all
too well.
“Dad? Mom?”
Grace stood there holding a therinal food container, while Simon wore a grim expression. ” Didn’t you say you didn’t want to see Annabelle? What are you doing here?”
At that moment, Annabelle came stumbling out of her hospital room, crying for help. “Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey, please, help me! Cameron’s trying to kill
my baby!”
Simon immediately bristled, standing guard. “Let’s see who dares lay a hand on my grandson!
Grace rushed to Annabelle’s side, comforting her. “Don’t worry, I’m here. No one’s going to touch you or the baby as long as I’m around.”
Cameron pleaded, “Dad, Mom, can you please not make things even more complicated?”
“We’re just trying to protect our grandchild! How can that be making things more complicated? You’re the one who has lost your head over Cassandra, going as far as to harm your child! If Grace and I hadn’t shown up when we did, would Annabelle’s baby even have survived?”
At the mention of Cassandra, Cameron finally regained some composure. “Dad, Mom, what’s all this in the news about 100 million?”
Simon said flatly, “Your beloved Cassandra demanded 100 million from us!”
“That’s impossible! Cassie isn’t like that!”
Simon held out his phone. “I have a recording. See for yourself if it’s her voice.”
He pressed play, and Cassandra’s voice rang out clearly, “I want 100 million. You can consider
it the price to buy back your son. Mrs. Dorsey, you surely wouldn’t refuse, would you?”
