Chapter 27

Zac’s brow tightened, and his voice dropped. “That’s all you have to say?”

Liz didn’t hesitate. “What kind of reaction were you expecting? Did you really call just to ask something that pointless?”

Hearing the irritation in her voice, Zac pressed his fingers to his temples. His eyes grew cold.

He forced himself to stay calm. “Didn’t you always say I wouldn’t give you a proper title? Well, now’s your chance. Come to Voyager Tech. We’ll go public with the relationship and announce the wedding.”

In his mind, making their relationship official and setting a date was already a huge concession. Liz had no reason to keep fighting him on it.

But the moment he finished speaking, the other end of the line went completely silent.

He waited and waited. Just as he was about to snap, Liz finally spoke.

“Zac Lincoln, we already broke up. Do you really not understand what that means?”

His expression darkened instantly. His voice turned cold. “You only said that to get my attention. You wanted me to cut things off with Xena. Fine. I’m doing that. I’m going public. I’m setting a wedding date. Xena will never be a threat to your title as Mrs. Lincoln. What else do you want?

“I’m giving you an easy way out of this situation. Don’t push it. If you keep playing hardball, you’re the one who’s going to lose.”

Liz stayed perfectly calm. “You can keep your so-called easy way out. Let me say it again. We’re over. Don’t call me unless it’s absolutely necessary.

“And as for you and Xena, do whatever you want. It has nothing to do with me. I really don’t care.”

She didn’t wait for a reply. She hung up.

When Zac tried to call again, all he got was a busy signal.

He slammed his phone down on the desk, his face as dark as a storm cloud.

“Fine. If she wants to break up so badly, I’ll give her what she wants,” Zac thought. “Let’s see how long she can actually keep this up.”

He called Chase into the office, his tone ice-cold. “Tell the PR team to release a statement. Say Liz and I broke up a long time ago. My current girlfriend is Xena Spencer. There was no cheating. No home-wrecking involved.”

Chase hesitated for a second. “Mr. Lincoln, is this… part of a coordinated PR strategy with Miss Smith?”

The moment he said it, the atmosphere in the room turned tense. The air felt heavier. Zac’s expression darkened even more.

“Just do what I said,” he replied sharply.

Chase didn’t dare question him again. He gave a quick nod. “Understood.”

He left the office and went straight to the PR department.

Half an hour later, Voyager Tech released an official statement on social media.

Meanwhile, Liz had just finished organizing some files and was leaving her law firm.

The moment she got into her car, her phone buzzed. Someone in the office group chat had tagged her, telling her to check social media immediately.

She opened the app and saw Voyager Tech’s latest post.

The statement was short. It claimed she and Zac had broken up a long time ago and that his relationship with Xena began six months after their split. It denied any cheating or third-party interference.

The post also warned that they would be issuing legal notices to anyone spreading “false rumors” and were prepared to take legal action if necessary.

After eight years with him, including three years of betrayal, all she received was a cold, calculated statement. Not even an apology. The irony of it all was impossible to ignore.

But this time, she wasn’t going to let it slide. Not anymore.
