This lawyer studied the two men and finally asked: “You’re Lucas Mitchell and Nathan Sterling?”
“Yes. And you are?” Lucas sized up the stranger.
The man flashed his bar certification. “I’m Ms. Williams‘ attorney.”
Nathan’s expression turned cold: “Her attorney? I’m her husband and I’m a lawyer. Why the hell would she need you?”
The lawyer pushed up his glasses, genuinely confused. “But according to my files, you and Ms. Williams divorced months ago.”
Hearing that, Nathan went quiet.
Yeah. They were divorced.
Sophia had tricked him into signing the papers.
No–not tricked. He’d been too arrogant to read what he was signing.
‘Since you found her, you know her condition. So, right here, I’m asking you both to leave her alone.”
The lawyer stared at them, doing his job as her representative.
But Lucas, who’d been quiet, suddenly spoke up:
“You don’t have the right to keep me away.”
Now that he knew the truth, he wasn’t leaving Sophia again.
Even if she told him to go, he wouldn’t budge.
He walked into her room carrying the food his assistant had brought.
Tive years apart, but Lucas had never forgotten her.
The fake engagement with Lily? Just a way to test if Sophia still cared him.
Too bad his test had backfired completely.
He regretted it now. No more games, no more using other women to make her jealous.
From now on, he’d be direct about everything.

In her room, Lucas unpacked the takeout and sat beside her with a container: “Want me to help you with this?”
Sophia looked at his face and shook her head. “I can manage.”
While eating, she suddenly said, “You look so familiar.”
Lucas paused then he smiled: “Of course I do. We were together.”
Nathan walked in, listening that made his voice tight with anger. “What the hell are you telling her?”
“He says I’m his girlfriend,” Sophia repeated.
“He’s lying! I’m your husband.” Nathan sat down across from her.
But Sophia frowned. “If you’re my husband, why don’t I remember you?”
She had flashes of Lucas, but Nathan was a complete blank.
“Because you’re sick.” Nathan’s jaw clenched. Every her word just felt like a knife twisting in his chest.
Lucas said nothing, just scooped up some food and held the fork to Sophia’s lips.
He said gently: “Just eat. Don’t listen to him.”
The silent battle between them had begun.
“Lucas Mitchell…” Nathan’s jaw was clenched, eyes burning with rage.
“What?” Lucas stayed cool, acting natural.
He knew he was playing dirty, but his feelings for Sophia were real.
If he put in the effort, he could get her back.
After Sophia finished eating, her phone rang.
It was Margaret from the care facility: “Sophia, we have a problem–your father’s gone missing!”
