Leaving these words, then he walked out without looking back.
Sophia opened the invitation with trembling fingers. Two names in gold lettering stared back at her.
Lily Ross & Lucas Mitchell.
For a moment, her vision blurred and she saw her own name there instead.
Sophia Williams & Lucas Mitchell.

After her last patient, Sophia went to the nursing home.

She didn’t reply the message, and was about to put the phone away when another notification popped up. Lily had
tagged her in an Instagram post.
A huge pink diamond ring filled the screen, sparkling under perfect lighting.
The photo with a caption:
[My dear Lucas had this diamond ring designed by the famous Italian designer August. It’s called ‘Eternal,‘ meaning our true love lasts forever!]
Sophia gripped her phone so tightly her knuckles went white.
Lucas had given her a ring once too.
It was cheap, barely worth anything. He’d apologized: “Someday I’ll buy you the most expensive ring in the world. Sorry this is all I can afford right now.”
Back then, Sophia hadn’t cared, she just said:
“If it’s from you, I love it.”
She used to think marrying Lucas meant having everything.
But now, she had nothing.
Maybe it was better this way. Lucas had found his happiness. And she was leaving anyway.
she put her phone away and caught the bus home.
After arriving the house, Sophia took her usual pill from the nightstand.
ust as she swallowed it, her phone rang. It’s from Nathan.
‘Not coming home tonight.”
Five years of marriage, this was the first time he said this.
Sophia checked the time–9:59 PM. Even his calls were perfectly timed, right before their ten o’clock deal.
‘Fine.” she whispered.
‘PA!”
The second she hung up, their wedding photo crashed from the nightstand.
The clock hit ten.

Chapter 6
Sophia stared at the shattered glass, eyes stinging. Maybe it was meant to happen. Their marriage was over anyway. No point keeping the photo.
So she tore up what was left of the picture and threw the pieces in the trash with the broken glass.
After that, lying in bed afterward, she mindlessly scrolled through Ins. Summer’s account–she’d secretly followed for years–had a new post:
[After all these years, together again!]
The photo showed Summer wrapped in a man’s arms, their fingers intertwined.
And the man wasn’t just anyone–it was Sophia’s husband, Nathan.
No wonder he wasn’t coming home tonight. His precious Summer was back after five years.
In that moment, something inside Sophia finally snapped.
Both Lucas and Nathan had finally found the women they truly loved.
Now, she could leave without looking back…
