Chapter 8
Jackson turned to me, his eyes instantly softening. “Darling, what do you think of these punishments? Do they satisfy you?”
I nodded, my voice hoarse: “Make them disappear. I never want to see them again.”
Hearing this, Jackson waved his hand in disgust. “Get them out of here.”
Soon, only the two of us remained in the rest area.
Jackson immediately dropped his cold facade, burrowing into my arms like an oversized puppy, his voice pitiful: “Baby, it’s all my fault. I’ll never leave you alone again.”
‘Alright, alright,” I soothed him, stroking his hair indulgently.
A moment later, as if remembering something, Jackson frowned in dissatisfaction. “Darling, you’ve always refused to publicly acknowledge your status as Mrs. teed, claiming it’s too high-profile. But it’s precisely your low profile that lets these vermin bully you. I don’t care anymore-I’m announcing your identity right how to prevent anyone else from daring to mistreat you.”
With that, Jackson took out his phone and posted a family photo of the four of us on Reed Enterprises’ official account.
Seeing his urgency, warmth flooded my heart.
The adoration Jackson showed me was something I’d never experienced before.
n the following days, true to his word, Jackson took me everywhere with him, practically wanting to hang me on his body like an accessory.
inally, during an important meeting he couldn’t bring me to, I seized the opportunity to walk along the beach, only to encounter the last person I wanted to
ee-Mason.
he moment I spotted him, the bodyguards behind me immediately went on high alert.
Mason ignored them completely.
le gazed at me with what seemed like profound emotion, quickly walking toward me.
When he was just a step away, I shouted: “Don’t come any closer! You disgust me!”
Mason looked wounded by the revulsion in my eyes, his expression hurt as he stammered: “Natalie, please don’t be like this… I came to… apologize. I’m sorry…”
lis voice grew increasingly small, as if lowering his head to me was deeply humiliating.
eeing me fold my arms and laugh coldly, his expression suddenly became animated. “Natalie, I’ve seen Ivy’s true colors now. She’s nothing but a gold-digger who only cares about money. I was fooled by her innocent act. I just… I just made a mistake that any man in the world could make….”
But… how could you marry someone else? And have children? I told you to wait for me at home! How could you betray me like this?”
Mason’s eyes reddened as he shouted breathlessly.
found him utterly ridiculous. “What betrayal? We were already divorced! And what, you think I should divorce when you say so and come running back vhen
you call? Am I your trained dog? Is that how worthless you think I am?”
Mason, have some dignity. We ended five years ago. Given how much I hate you, the fact that I haven’t sought revenge in five years is the greatest mercy I ould show you.”
As I turned to leave, Mason frantically caught up and grabbed my hand.
Natalie, don’t go! Your daughter is Jackson Reed’s child, but where is our baby? Is Jackson preventing you from raising our child?”
I know I was wrong. For our child’s sake, won’t you divorce Jackson? We can remarry. I still love you…”
Hearing he mentioned our child, hatred surged through me uncontrollably.
How dare he?
What he owed that child could never be repaid!

I panked my hand away and slapped him with all my strength.
Shut up! How dare you mention our child! You don’t deserve to!”
“You want to know where our baby is? Then go die right now-go meet him in the underworld and let him see what kind of monster his father is!”
Hearing my furious screams, Mason looked bewildered.
He asked, his breathing shallow: “What… what do you mean? What happened to our baby?”
I stared at him coldly. “That child died five years ago because you locked me in the car. He was suffocated to death in my womb.”
“Mason, the sins you’ve committed can never be atoned for in this lifetime.”
Mason felt his world collapsing around him.

He fell to his knees, covering his face as tears streamed down, nearly breaking down.
“How could this happen? I didn’t know.”
“I didn’t know it would turn out like this. I did want to find you, but Ivy stopped me. She said you would be fine, that she’d already sent someone to take you to
the hospital, so I thought…”
His face contorted with rage as he ground out through clenched teeth: “IVY!”
“It’s all her fault! Everything is Ivy’s doing!”
Seeing him still refusing to take responsibility, pushing all blame onto others, I sighed deeply. “Yes, she’s at fault, but aren’t you equally guilty? You cheated during our marriage and abandoned your wife and son. Mason, you’re even more despicable than she is. You two deserve each other-honestly, I sincerely hope you both stay locked in your toxic relationship forever.”
“And stay out of my sight from now on, or I might actually kill you.”
After saying my piece, I turned around to see Jackson had finished his meeting and was waiting for me in the distance.
I picked up my skirt and ran toward him with a smile.
Behind me, Mason shouted desperately, completely unhinged: “All men are the same! I might be trash, but you think Jackson Reed is any better? He’s privileged-he’ll only play around more extravagantly! Natalie, you’ll never be happy with him. I’m your destiny!”
