Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I stared coldly at Arnold. “If you want wedding gifts, prepare them yourself. I won’t spend a dime.”
“Didn’t you say your company made a lot of money last month? You took $60,000 from me for investments-now you’re too cheap to buy your sister wedding gifts?”Arnold’s face grew even darker.
“Cecilia, when did you become so petty? Sarah is my sister-can’t you be a little more generous?”
I was completely immune to his manipulation, “That $60,000 was money I’d saved for our baby’s first-month celebration after I got pregnant. What did you say when you took it? That it was just a loan, and you’d pay it back next month. So where’s the money now?”
Sarah stepped forward. “Cecilia, how can you talk to Arnold like that? He took your money all for this family’s sake!”
“Shut up!”
I cut her off. “It’s not your place to speak here!”
Arnold’s temple veins bulged as he instinctively pulled Sarah into his embrace.
“How dare you talk to Sarah like that!”He said, and after that, I caught Sarah’s expression-both blissful and smug.
I suddenly realized that on several occasions before, Sarah had been subtly brainwashing Arnold.
“Arnold, you’re so accomplished-how did you end up with a wife like this? She’s lazy and wasteful.”
Every time Arnold returned from business trips wanting to have sex with me, Sarah would interrupt at the most inopportune moments.
Looking back now, her possessiveness over Arnold had been obvious all along.
Quite a foster “sister” indeed.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my lower abdomen, and I instinctively clutched my stomach.
This felt exactly like my previous life-was I going to lose this baby again?
But my emotions didn’t fluctuate at all, so why did it hurt so much?

I carefully thought through what felt wrong, remembering the supplement soup Sarah had specially prepared for me that morning.
The taste had been off.
It seemed that even without the emotional fluctuations from my previous life, she’d already made her move.
Think whatever you want. I’m going home.”
[pulled out my phone to call my assistant.
‘No!”
Sarah rushed over and grabbed my purse. “You’re buying my wedding gifts today!”
Her voice was shrill, yet somehow made her seem even more pitiable.
A woman with a child couldn’t stand watching this anymore: “Ma’am, your sister-in-law is so pitiful-come on, just buy it for her!”
Several young women nearby pointed and whispered about me.
“Look at that sister-in-law-wearing a Cartier bracelet while her husband’s sister doesn’t even have a decent necklace.”
Hearing people take her side, Sarah cried even harder.
“My sister-in-law just looks down on me! She has money but won’t even buy me a jewelry set!”
“Cecilia, you keep saying you have no money, but how can you afford such an expensive private hospital?”
She made sure everyone could hear: “That hospital costs $200,000 a day minimum!”
1 smeered internally
This time, I wouldn’t just book a private hospital-I’d go to the best maternity ward abroad.
But right now, saving my baby was the priority.
“Mover
I shook off Sarah’s grip, but she suddenly sat down on the floor and wailed.
“There’s no justice! A sister-in-law bullying her husband’s sister!”
