hapter 7
The Bowen family had always been far more powerful than the Howards. To avenge me, Terence crushed the Howard family in
the market.
Overnight, the Howard family vanished from the business landscape, declaring bankruptcy.
Bethany’s parents had no idea what they’d done to offend the Bowens. They tried everything to contact Terence, hoping he’d
show mercy. But no matter what they did, Terence refused to see anyone from the Howard family.
Later, driven to despair by debt, Bethany’s parents jumped off a building. She saw it all with her own eyes. The shock drove her
insane.
Terence had her committed to a psychiatric hospital. He told them she was never allowed out again.
And one by one, every family that had joined him in hurting me began to disappear.
Terence sent everyone who had directly harmed me to the psychiatric hospital. As for the two who harassed me, he handed them
over to the police.
He strictly ordered that they would spend the rest of their lives behind bars and suffer the same kind of torment they had inflicted
on me.
Terence printed out every new update and laid them one by one at my grave.
He asked softly, “Does this make you feel any better?”
That night, he had a long dream.
He found himself reliving the events on the cruise ship. In the dream, he watched helplessly as my body was slowly consumed by
fire before him.
I whispered, “Are you satisfied now?”
That single sentence looped through his mind like a curse.
In the dream, he cried out over and over again.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! Please don’t die, please!”
As he shouted, he jolted awake and sat straight up in bed.
For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasn’t really dead.
The next morning, as sunlight filled the room, he picked up his phone and called his assistant.
“Look into Cecilia,” he instructed.
It was my last day on the island.

I was helping Eva harvest vegetables at her house when I received a call from Cecilia.
“You won’t believe what’s happened since I helped pack up your things at your place. In the last few days, every single one of Terence’s friends, including Bethany, got thrown into the psychiatric hospital. On top of that, they all went bankrupt. They’re drowning in debt. Do you think he’s getting revenge for you?”
I straightened up, feeling a little exasperated.
“Then why is he, the person who deserves it most, still alive?”
Cecilia let out a soft laugh.
I chatted with her for a while.
After helping Eva, I walked back to the small courtyard and started packing my belongings.
When Peter and Eva found out I was leaving, they insisted on seeing me off.
I couldn’t turn them down. Just before I left, I quietly took off the most valuable bracelet I owned and left it behind as payment.
Peter and Eva initially tried to decline. But my unwavering expression made it clear I wouldn’t leave until they accepted, so Peter
and Eva eventually relented.
“We’ll give it back to you when you return to visit us next time,” Eva said.
I hummed in acknowledgment, silently thinking that I might never come back again.
There was only one shuttle from the island to the mainland, and I was lucky to be the only passenger today.
As soon as I settled into my seat, I saw the driver remove his mask. My blood ran cold when I recognized his face.
It was Terence.
He smiled faintly. “I knew you weren’t dead.”
I immediately tried to open the car door to get out, but it wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I pulled.
He had locked it.
After struggling in vain, I spoke coldly. “What do you want?”
Terence drove faster, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
“I’m taking you home.”
Steeling myself, I lunged forward and wrestled the steering wheel from Terence. The car swerved wildly under our combined control.
Terence’s eyes widened as he watched the car veer uncontrollably toward the sea. Glaring at him, my voice was cold as I said, “I don’t mind dying for real this time.”
Chapter 7
Just as the sea water began to engulf the front of the vehicle, Terence slammed the brakes.
I saw the despair in his eyes.
