I continued calmly, “I know you misunderstood, so here, why don’t you check for yourself? Did I ever set that post to be only visible to you?”
Easton swayed on his feet as if he might collapse at any second.
Tina ran up in a panic. “Easton, just let her go! If she wants to marry someone else, let her! Let’s leave!”

Tears welled in her eyes as she looked unwillingly toward Gavin, her gaze full of envy.
She stepped forward, trying to grab Easton’s hand like some final show of possession, but he shoved her away hard.
“This is between Wanda and me. You stay out of it!
“You couldn’t win over Gavin, so you dragged me into ruining his wedding. Well, I’m not like you. Wanda’s always loved me!”
He didn’t even glance at Tina’s stunned face. Stumbling, he walked over and reached out
his hand toward me.
“Wanda, I regret everything. Please, don’t marry him.
“Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you! I promise I won’t have anything to do with Tina again. Didn’t you propose to me 99 times? Let me be the one to do so this time.”
He dropped to one knee in front of everyone, looking up at me with pleading eyes.
“Wanda, please marry me. We’ve known each other for years. I’m the one who understands you best!
“You’ve barely known Gavin. Don’t throw away your whole life just to get back at me!”
He frantically dug through his pockets, only to come up empty. Panicked, he turned to yell at his friends.

I spoke coldly. “Easton, stop wasting your time. Did you forget? You’re the one who tricked me into coming today, saying you wanted to marry me.”
He shook his head in confusion. “That was just a misunderstanding. Wanda, let me explain
I waved him off. “There’s no need. After all these years, haven’t you humiliated me enough? I followed you devotedly like a dog, and even your friends looked down on me.”
I raised my hand and pointed at the group behind him. They immediately lowered their eyes in guilt.
“You only ever saw Tina. When did you ever notice me? And now that I’ve finally stopped wagging my tail for you–now you regret it? It’s too late.”
I signaled a waiter and picked up two glasses of wine, handing one to him.
“Drink this, and consider it your toast to my wedding.”
Easton pushed the glass away in a panic, and wine spilled all over the floor.
“I won’t drink it! I won’t accept this!”
Tina sobbed as she tried to pull him up.
“Enough! Stop making a fool of yourself! She’s already married!”
Easton shoved her away without even looking up and roared, “Get lost!”
Tina rain tears, but Easton didn’t budge.

I lifted my gown and turned to walk away, but he suddenly snapped out of his trance and scrambled forward, grabbing onto the train of my dress.”

He started slapping himself across the face.

Easton curled up on the floor, clutching his head and sobbing uncontrollably.
I crouched down and pried his fingers off my dress one by one.
I said coldly, “I heard your apology. But not every apology deserves forgiveness. I’m married now. I hope you won’t show up in my life again.”
I linked arms with Gavin and turned to him with a smile. “Honey, we still have so many guests to toast. Let’s go.”
Gavin gave my hand a firm squeeze. When I met his eyes, I finally felt peace settle deep inside me.
