A Rejected Luna – Her Rise to Power
Chapter 38 – Alpha
MARCIA’S PERSPECTIVE
The camp outside was filled with celebration, fires crackling and soldiers singing like the battle had already been won.
But I sat inside a quiet tent with Dravic.
There was no cheering here. Just silence and the soft flicker of candlelight between us.
Dravic leaned forward slightly, his green eyes glinting like emeralds in the firelight. “Did you mean to kill her, Marcia? If I hadn’t announced that it’s over, would you have done it?”
I swallowed hard.
There was no judgement in his tone. Just curiosity. As if he already knew the answer.
So I didn’t bother lying.
“Yes.”
He nodded once, like he expected it.
Then he spoke again, his voice lower now. “Eunice humiliated the Rum prince. And she slaughtered a surrendered village that belonged to his kingdom. They can’t publicly admit what she

did. It would disgrace their royal line. So they’ve buried it.”
My brows pulled together.
“And our side?” I asked.

“We buried it too,” he said simply. “If the public finds out our victory came from war crimes, it taints everything. The king would rather silence the truth than stain the crown.”
I stared at him, mind reeling. Of course. It all made sense now.
Both kingdoms had reason to pretend nothing had happened.
But that didn’t mean the enemy had forgotten.
They’d want revenge. That prince was dead. His family, his soldiers—they wouldn’t let this go.
If they couldn’t reach Eunice directly—because she was protected by title, by politics—they’d find a different way to even the score.
Just like they did to my pack with their Shadow Forces.
My fists balled on my lap, chest tightening.
It wasn’t over yet.
But for now, a disaster had been averted.

I glanced at Dravic.
He’d saved me once more.

From losing control this time. From turning into a monster, and in front of all those people. My comrades and my soldiers.
No matter the situation, Dravic Dawnvele always had my back.
And the gratitude I felt could never be expressed through words.
So it lingered in the silence, in the gentle smile I offered him even as my heart was full.
Dravic smiled back at me, like he understood.
Later that night, I returned to my friends.
The circle around the fire burst into cheers when they saw me.
“She’s back!” Quin shouted.
“Took you long enough, General!”
Hailey grabbed my arm and spun me around as I laughed.
Marcus tossed me a flask, grinning widely. Xayden saluted. Even Abigail gave a small, proud nod from the shadows.

“Your win was clean,” Tony said.
“Too clean,” Laura added with a smirk. “Almost felt sorry for
Eunice.”
I smiled, letting their joy warm the space around me. I raised the flask, toasted their laughter, and joined their stories about upcoming missions, strategies, all of them eager to prove themselves.
But my mind wasn’t on the fire.
It was still back in that tent.
Because I knew now—Dravic had planned everything.
He’d provoked Eunice. Given her the rope.
Made sure she’d challenge me.
Made sure she’d lose.
And with that loss, she’d been stripped of her standing. Her authority. Her value.
She had no more influence left.
Which meant… if something were to happen to her on the battlefield—an accident, an ambush, a mistake—no one would

rush to protect her. Not politically. Not militarily. Not even symbolically.
She’d be expendable.
If she died in battle, the enemy would feel avenged, and our kingdom wouldn’t be shamed.
Both sides would get what they wanted.
And no one would ever have to admit the truth.
A quiet, dangerous solution.
I stared into the flames.
Was it possible that when Dravic wrote to the king for reinforcements…
He’d specifically requested Eunice lead them?
So she’d march straight into her own doom?
I glanced across the firelight, catching sight of him standing at the edge of the camp, watching the horizon.
So composed.
So still.

I couldn’t help it.
A small chill ran down my spine.
Dravic was no ordinary prince.
He was truly an Alpha. A leader.
A cunning protector—the exact thing every kingdom needs.
