Chapter 6 – Decree
MARCIA’S PERSPECTIVE

“Marcia,” Kael said in a low tone. “Last warning. Give me the list, and I will ignore your small temper.”
I laughed loudly. “What? Is the Alpha Heir afraid to take it himself?”
Now he snapped, stepping forward and grabbing my arm, his eyes black with anger. Immediately, I closed my fist, slowing down his heartbeat. His eyes drooped for a second, and I took the opportunity to free myself of his hold. I twisted his arm around his back, taking him by surprise.
Shocked gasps erupted through the pack.
Kael growled, turning to me with his teeth bared. “You have no idea what you just did.”
Warm blood threatened to trickle down my nose. Using magic came at a price, and my skills had gotten rusty overtime. I quickly wiped it off like it was sweat, refusing to let anybody see
weakness.
“Bring it on, Alpha Heir,” I mocked, gesturing with my hands for him to come at me.
Kael attacked again, and once more, a trick taught by Wizard

Maxin came in handy. I dodged him, waving a hand over his eyes, that blurred his vision for a moment. Using that, I kicked him in the groin as hard as I could, and thankfully, even werewolves were sensitive down there. A boyish cry left his lips as he quickly scrambled away from me, eyes blinking wildly as he regained his vision.
I sniffed up the blood, swallowing it down. I couldn’t let them find out I used magic. I needed them to think their future Alpha was a complete loser.
“Marcia!” Kael’s voice boomed through the hall as he charged towards me. Sucking in a breath, I moved out the way, grabbing a vase I’d bought with my own money and swinging it around without thinking.
It shattered against Kael’s head, effectively drawing blood. My chest heaved up and down as I stared at him, heart hammering in my chest from adrenaline. Kael stared at me, shocked. He touched the blood on his head, then glanced at his fingers.
Whispers swam among the pack.
“Isn’t she supposed to be a useless wolf without powers? How is she able to match Kael blow for blow?”
“The Alpha Heir lost against a mere girl?”
“How is she so strong?”

My lips curled into a smile, gaze meeting Eunice’s. Her eyes blackened with rage, which only made me grin wider.
Better for her to know who she was marrying.

“You faked it!” she yelled in a high pitched voice. She stormed up to Kael, face red with anger, finger pointed in accusation. “You feigned defeat to make her feel good! I’ll get the damned list.”
She turned, but before she could take a single step towards it, I picked up the list from the floor and ripped it apart. She clenched her jaw, seething.
“Marcia!” Kael’s mother yelled as if she’d caught me killing
someone.
I threw the torn list into the air, letting the pieces fall to the ground dramatically.
“How dare you?” the Luna cried, marching forward. “You have completely forgotten your place, Marcia Xendale. What you did just now in front of twenty witnesses is treason!”
I raised a brow. “Treason?”
“You attacked the Alpha Heir,” Kael’s father said, his eyes also black with anger.
“Correction—he attacked me. I merely defended myself,” I

stated. “I’m sure those twenty witnesses would agree if they have eyes.”
“You will be thrown into the dungeons for this,” Kael snapped. “You could have stayed in your place, Marcia. Remained my wife and mate. But you had to play the rebel. Now you’ll face the consequences. Seize her!” he barked at the pack members, who glanced at each other, and then stepped towards me.
I shuffled back, but before they could reach me, a voice echoed through the pack house, loud and authoritative.
“If anyone dares to touch Marcia Xendale, I will take it as an offence against myself, and the Crown.”
I froze, my breath catching in my throat.
Dravic.
What was he doing here?
I spun on my heel, to find him standing at the door, the king’s guards behind him.
My eyebrows pulled together in confusion.
“Your Highness,” the Alpha of Silverlake said, eyes wide in surprise. “Please, come in. What—what brings you here?”
Dravic lingered at the door, his vibrant green eyes fixing on me.

“You will be delighted to know that the King has made a decision,” he said, offering me a small, reassuring smile.
I raised my eyebrows, waiting for him to elaborate.

Dravic glanced at Kael, his expression hardening. “By royal command, Alpha Heir of Silverlake, Kael Lightwood is to reject Marcia Xendale—daughter of valour and last heiress of Moonshadow—immediately and without contest.”
Relief flooded me, escaping through my eye as a lone tear. I sniffed, brushing it away.
There was a beat of silence.
“But… but Your–” Kael then began, only to be cut off.
“The King also decrees,” Dravic announced, “that all her
pre–marital belongings in gold, jewels, and gifts shall be restored in full to her.”
A gasp cut through the air, and I didn’t have to look to know it belonged to my dearest mother–in–law. But before anyone could argue, Dravic continued further.
“In addition, Marcia Xendale shall now bear the noble title: Lady Marcia, Luna Regent of Moonshadow. She is granted ownership and dominion over her ancestral lands, to govern and protect the newly reformed Moonshadow Pack. This land, and the titles accompanying it, shall pass to her children, and her

children’s children, restoring the Xendale name to its rightful standing among the noble lineages of Prim.”
Something within me resurrected.
This was… this was so much more than I expected. And so much sooner than I’d thought.
How did this happen?
More than relief, satisfaction bloomed in my chest as I glanced at Kael and his family—their wide eyes, gaping mouths, and faces red with embarrassment.
I released a slow breath, allowing a smile to take over my
features.
Lady Marcia, Luna Regent of Moonshadow.
