Chapter 19
It was shocking to see Camille agree. Now, that was something I hadn’t expected.
“What’s with that look? You’re supposed to behave and keep Quinn company. Can’t your understand me?”
She raised her head and was about to slap me when Quinn stepped forward, “Camille, don’t mess up that pretty face now.
Camille’s expression turned more sour than ever, but that slap never landed. That made me more curious about who Quinn was to have the untamed Camille hold back like that.
Honestly, I didn’t want to go. And if I refused, Camille would probably be overjoyed.
But still, I nodded. “Alright.” Going didn’t mean anything, and I didn’t believe for a second that just because I went, a woman like Quinn could somehow devour me.
“Well then, I’ll pass on the food. Let’s go, handsome,” Quinn said as she dragged me by the arm and pulled me out.
Camille’s expression was horribly dark, yet she didn’t say a word.
As soon as we left the private room, I yanked my band free.
“Hmm? Not so obedient anymore, are you?” Quinn looked at me with her interest clearly piqued.
“That’s right,” I said calmly and headed down the stairs.
She followed and asked, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Camille and have her punish you?
I wasn’t fazed by her words. “Not at all.”
She burst out laughing in light, playful chuckles. And Camille thinks she has an obedient lapdog. Little does she know…”
Yet I wasn’t interested in entertaining her tactics. I couldn’t care less about any woman who could laugh and drink with Camille.
I headed downstairs and got into my car to leave, but she plopped right in the passenger seat.
“Sorry, but I’m not going to entertain you. I’m not a male escort. If you want a handsome guy, I can hook you up. Male models and fitness trainers; just name whatever type you like,” I said bluntly and shot her a sideways glance.
“Am I someone like that to you?” she asked, smiling.
“Aren’t you?”
“I’m not.”
Chapter 19
I had no idea how she could say that with a straight face, but it wasn’t a surprise considering she was friends with Camille. After all, birds of a feather flocked together.
“I’m just interested in you. A Blackthorne University graduate and the Reaper of Brinestone Logistics, who made over a billion for the Laytons in just three years.
“Companies would kill to have you, yet you chose to stay by Camille’s side and suffer such humiliation. Perhaps… Do you actually like her?”
Quinn’s gaze lingered on me with a mature, dangerous charm. That was when I finally turned to really look at her.
She was beautiful. Compared to Sophia, she lacked that youthful brightness but had a deeper, mature allure.
What impressed me was her control over her emotions. She could always remain calm and composed, no matter what I said. Anyone who could master their emotions like that was never ordinary. She was formidable.
As for everything she just said, I knew exactly what it meant. She succeeded if she meant to provoke me.
“I don’t want to hear that. It disgusts me,” I snapped.
Quinn covered her mouth and laughed in amusement. “Interesting. Very interesting.”
Then, she pulled out a business card and handed it to me.
When I glanced at it, my pupils shrank. CEO of Solstice Global Estates, Quinn Lavigne! Solstice Global Estates was the real estate titan whose empire dominated the southern provinces, and who would have thought she was the CEO!
I never would have guessed. Sure enough, we should never judge a book by its cover.
“You’ve got talent. If you don’t wish to work for the Laytons anymore, let me know. Perhaps we can work together.” She leaned in as she spoke and slipped the card into my shirt pocket.
Sticking her face to my ear, she whispered, “And you’re good–looking too, just my type. Body or heart, I’m open to either.”
