I was the first to snap out of it

Uhyou should get some rest,I said quickly

Moments like this always made me feel like something was about to happen. Part of me was looking forward to it. But I didn’t know what to do with myself either

Sophia’s face turned red. Thenwould you walk me to my room?”

I swallowed hard and led her inside. But just as I set her down on the bed, I lost my balance and fell right on top of her

Our eyes locked, and I felt the heat between us rising fast

Her arms slipped around my neck. Her almond eyes were halfclosed, soft with something between teasing and temptation. That look alone would have set the room on fire

My breathing quickened. With someone like Sophia in front of me, it was hard to keep control. She was gorgeous, and her figure spoke for itself. But what really got me was that she was exactly my type

And with that heat pulling us in, I kissed her, and she responded with equal passion

I admit, the alcohol played a part, but so did my feelings for her. I couldn’t stop wanting more, and she gave just as much back, completely unreserved

As things heated up, my hand wandered somewhere it probably shouldn’t’ve. What came back was softness beyond anything I expected, mixed with Sophia’s burning passion

I’d never touched a woman before, so I was clumsy. But she seemed just as inexperienced

What connected us wasn’t just physical desire. It was a deeper bondthreads of trust and understanding that wrapped us together. It was pleasure, but something even more intoxicating than that

She wasn’t wearing much to begin with, but I kept pulling off what was left, one piece at a time

Sophia’s breathing quickened. Her eyes turned darker, more daring, as if telling me to keep going

And I did. We let it happen

Just then, my phone rang at the worst possible time. The sound sliced through the warmth and quiet we’d just found

I reached for it and instinctively declined the call. But the phone kept ringing nonstop, and eventually, it ruined the mood

Chapter 27

Damn it,I muttered, annoyed

I already knew who it was. At this hour, the only person who’d blow up my phone like that could only be Camille

Sophia chuckled. Go ahead. I don’t mind if you answer.”

She sat up, carefully pulled her robe tighter around herself, then shot me a shy glance before slipping into the bathroom

The alcohol was starting to wear off. As I replayed the moment in my head, I started feeling like maybe I’d gone too far

I looked at my phone and finally answered it

Hello? Who is this?”

My voice came out rough after getting interrupted like that

Max Wexler! Why the hell haven’t you been answering your phone?”

Just as I thought, it was Camille

Are you out of your mind? Who the hell calls this late?I snapped

Back when I was her secretary, I had no choice but to pick up. Even when I had become the CEO, she still treated me like a dog she could summon at will

CEO

What are you yelling at me for?she shot back. Come pick me up. II’m drunk.”

Her tone softened. But I wasn’t falling for it

And what’s that got to do with me? I’m not your secretary anymore.I let out a cold snort. You’re not,she said. But my dad told you to look after meShould I give him a call?”

I could hear the contempt in her voice. This conniving bitch always had some dirty trick ready. If she called Benson, he’d order me to go pick her up. No excuse would get me out of it

I’m still at the same bar. I’ll wait for youshe said. But if you take too long and some guy takes me home, wellyou’ll find out what happens next.”

The line was cut off

I didn’t get mad easily. But this time, I was livid

Just then, Sophia came out of the shower in a bathrobe. The whole room smelled like her- fresh and warm and impossible to ignore
