“You” Camille was stunned.
I tore the contract into shreds and tossed it to the floor. “Camille, you’re not welcome here. Now get out!”
I hadn’t intended to lose my temper, but she just wouldn’t give up. Did she think I was just some pushover?
“What did you just say? Did you just tell me to get out? Say that again if you dare!” Camille still couldn’t understand the situation, still assuming that I was the same old Max.
“Are you insane? Ms. Layton kindly came here to invite you back to the company, so how could you have the nerve to insult her? Do you even have a conscience?” Kieran chimed in.
After being quick to scold me, he turned to fawn over Camille. “Don’t bother with him. Let’s just leave.”
But Camille barked back, “I’m not leaving! If he doesn’t come with me today, I’m not going anywhere!”
Then, she turned to me again and commanded, “Max, I’m telling you one last time. Come with me now! Or else—”

Camille flew into a rage. “How dare you! Max, you fucking muttface! How dare you talk to me
like that! I’ll-”
“Please leave, Camille. This is Maxophia Logistics, not Layton Group. If you refuse to leave, don’t expect me to be polite.” Sophia stepped forward, her expression cold.
Camille sneered. Her eyes were full of mockery as she responded, “Oh, so that’s why you’re acting so cocky now, Max. You’ve latched onto a sugar mommy, haven’t you?
“And as for you, Sophia. Don’t think that I’m afraid of you. The Hartwells might be powerful in Brinestone, but the Laytons aren’t intimidated!
“Let me make myself clear–I’m taking Max with me today. If you try to stop me, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
Sophia couldn’t help but snap back. “Don’t you understand me? Max isn’t going anywhere with you. Stop dreaming.”
But Camille didn’t seem bothered by her words. He’s not? Well, I’m still taking him. He’s my lapdog, and if he won’t obey today, I’ll drag him back to give him a proper lesson. He’ll obey

“And do you think you could stop me?”
I wondered where Camille found the courage to be this confrontational that day. Just as I was about to step forward, Sophia held me back. “You don’t have to say a single word, Max. I’d like to see who dares try to take you away from me today.”
I blinked in surprise. Honestly, this wasn’t a big deal, and I could easily handle it myself. But for some reason, the two women seemed to be locked in a fight.
I could understand Camille acting this way, but what about Sophia? Why was she behaving like Camille all of a sudden?
“Oh, right, Max. Don’t bother speaking. Just stand there and watch. Let’s see if your new or old owner wins today!” Camille huffed coldly.
Their combined comments nearly pushed me over the edge.
That was when a cold roar rang out. “Camille, that’s enough!”
Benson had arrived. He strode over, his expression dark.
The moment I saw him, I narrowed my eyes slightly. So, that was where Camille got all her nerve. It seemed Benson was here to back her up.
I had invited him to my business‘ grand opening that day, but I hadn’t expected him to send Camille and tick me off like that.
“Don’t take it to heart, Max. Camille has a sharp tongue, but everything she said was true. The offer of ten times your salary reflects both her and my sincerity in wanting you to return.
“After all, I was the one who brought you up. I’m your boss and even your mentor. You can’t deny that, can you?”
