I frowned. Caleb wouldn’t lie to me, and if he said so, I reckoned that he must have his reasons.
I still couldn’t figure out what Camille could possibly be capable of, so I asked, “What happened?”
He took a deep breath and thought about it before saying, “Centrise Group initially cut ties with Layton Group, but Camille managed to get in touch with the heir of the Zenn family in Govendale. I have no idea how, but she got the project just like that!
“I
guess that she probably slept with the guy and took good care of him. That’s probably how she got it.”
I frowned. Never would I have expected this to have ties to the Zenn family in Govendale. If that were true, things might get tricky. After all, I couldn’t sell my body.
“Also, I heard that he plans to fully support the Laytons and help them monopolize Brinestone’s foreign logistics! You’d better watch your back,” Caleb warned.
I took a deep breath. Thinking back to Camille’s earlier words, it all clicked into place.
No wonder she’d said we’d go bankrupt soon. It turned out that that might be the reason.
With Centrise Group’s full support, she might actually pull it off and dominate Brinestone. When that time came, she’d definitely come for my company’s throat without hesitation.
“Can you get in touch with anyone from Govendale?” I asked and turned to Caleb. No matter what, I had to think of something.
“Max, the Zenn family is the second–largest shareholder in Centrise Group. I’ve got no way of reaching them,” Caleb said, sighing.
It made sense. His dad was just a senior executive. There was no way he’d have direct access to the shareholders in Govendale.
“But don’t take it too hard. I don’t think the Layton family will be able to secure the deal. Who knows, there might be a change of events,” Caleb added, trying to reassure me.
Change of events? That was a fairy tale, and I wasn’t going to risk my future on such uncertainties.
“Speaking of which, Centrise Group purchased large plots of land in Brinestone. They’re massively expanding into real estate, material logistics, machinery transport, landscaping, and even garden logistics–essentially, they’re going large–scale.
“If you partner with them, you’d be set for at least five years.” He sounded genuinely regretful.
However, his words made my eyes light up. At the mention of real estate, I immediately thought of someone–Quinn!
Chapter 64
Solstice Global Estates was a real estate enterprise. If Centrise Group was expanding in that sector too, there might be a connection.
“Caleb, you’ve really helped me out today. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime,” I said before rushing out.
Once I left, the first thing I did was call Quinn.
“Well, well, well, Mr. Wexler. How did you think of calling me?” Her sweet voice came through
the phone.
“Oh, cut it out. Don’t call me that. Where are you? I need to talk to you.”
She immediately sent me a location. I drove straight over, and when I arrived, I realized that it
was a gym.
I walked in to find it deserted, save for Quinn. She was working out in a tight, form–fitting yoga wear.
“You’re here. Wait for me just a second, and take your seat. Let me finish stretching.” She winked at me.
Sitting down nearby, my eyes couldn’t help but drift toward her.
There was no denying that her figure was something else. Her hourglass curve, round glutes, and full chest formed the most perfect body I’d ever seen on a woman.
“Do you think I’ve got a good body?”
I was admiring her when she suddenly asked, grinning.
