Chapter 82

Everyone’s gaze was immediately on me. Some looked on as if they were watching a show, some seemed exasperated by what was going on, while some looked at me, their smiles mocking

་

Before I could answer, Camille smiled once again before explaining the situation to everyone. Oh, right. I forgot to explain what was happening to everyone. Max made a bet with me earlier

He said that if the Laytons manage to sign the contract with Centrise Group, he would return to the Layton family and continue serving me as my lapdog

Now that we’ve signed the contract and cut the ribbon, Max, shouldn’t you crawl over to where your owner is?Camille folded her arms and looked at me arrogantly. Her eyes were filled with mockery

Desmond also smiled and said, I’ve never actually seen a human act as a mutt before. Ms. Layton, you should let me enjoy the show today.”

Camille instantly replied, Sure!”

With that, she took off her bracelet and tossed it far away. Then, she ordered, Max, I command you to fetch my bracelet for me!”

Such a scene had played out many times before. However, unlike previous times, I did not move. Instead, I looked at her coldly and sneered

What’s wrong? Max, are you deaf? Didn’t you hear what I just said? I want you to fetch me my bracelet!Camille bellowed after seeing me sit there unmoving

Why should I do that?I asked flatly

What do you mean? Didn’t you just make a bet with us? You’ve lost the bet, so you’re my lapdog now. Are you planning to go back on your word?Camille coldly asked

Desmond added mockingly, Max, though you’re just a leech who mooches off of women, as a man, shouldn’t you act with integrity? How can you not keep to your promise after losing a bet?”

Oh, I get it. You two think that I’ve lost the bet. Am I right?I asked

What do you think? We’ve already signed the contract. How could you possibly win

I pursed my lips and smiled, That might not necessarily be the case. So what if you two have signed the contract? Mr. Zenn can always choose to terminate the contract he signed with you

Camille was infuriated by my response as she shouted, I really think that you’ve lost your marbles! Fine. Since you refuse to listen, I’ll make you listen!”

With that, Camille summoned the security guards. “He lost a bet, so he’s now the Layton family’s mutt. That means I can do whatever I want with him. I want you all to break his legs!”

As she raged, Benson merely watched everything unfold, and when his gaze landed on me, I could sense the faint amusement in his eyes

He probably believed that I had no way out of the mess and that I would soon beg him for

mercy

Once that happened, he would be able to play the good guy and win me over. He would then expect me to be so grateful that I would get down on my knees to thank him

What a joke

Mr. Zenn, I’d give you one more chance. Hand the rights to the project over to me. Otherwise, things might become too much for you to handle later.I was kind enough to remind him, but Desmond refused to listen to my advice

Instead, he roared, You must have lost your fucking mind. Camille, hurry up and break his legs! I want him to come to his senses!”

Camille hummed in response, while her guards slowly approached me

Max, you”

Max, why don’t we leave first. We can always plan what to do next later on.”

Sophia and Quinn looked at me worriedly

It’s fine. I’ve already said that I would get Mr. Zenn to sign our contract, and I’ll keep my word.”

Desmond scoffed when he heard my words. He said, Max, I really have no idea who gave you the balls to make such claims. I’d like to see if you’re still so bold once they break your legs.”

The security guards slowly inched closer toward me, and soon they had me surrounded

Suddenly, a cold sneer came from outside the door. I’m the one who gave Max the courage to make such claims. What’s wrong? Do you have a problem with that?”
