“I don’t know. My heart’s been chasing you since you got together with Frank.”
“During that time, I felt like I’d gone back to being a kid – the silent Miles who barely
spoke.”
I suddenly remembered Grandpa Young’s frantic phone call saying something was wrong
with Miles.
I just thought he was sick.
I had no idea I was the culprit.
I was annoyed.
Then why didn’t he steal me away?
He said.
More than being with me, he wanted me to be free.
Free to choose who to love, free to choose who not to love.
That was the real Lily.
I nodded in satisfaction and gently squeezed my horse’s sides, galloping across the vast grasslands.
The wind carried the scent of grass as it blew past, lifting my mood.
“How about it, handsome? Want to ride together?” I put a wildflower I’d casually picked to my lips, trying to entice him from atop the horse.
Miles lowered his eyes and chuckled:

Though he complained I was being cheesy, his reddening ears betrayed him as he swung up onto the horse.
I put the flower between Miles‘ lips.
“I’m just feeling inspired!”
“Besides, you gotta be proactive when faced with a hottie!”
Joking around while getting handsy – it felt amazing!
Miles coldly removed my wandering hands from his body, his voice husky:
“Lily.”
“If
you want, I don’t mind rolling in the hay with you right here on horseback.”
I froze for a moment, my face turning bright red.
“Don’t… don’t you dare!”
“I’m sorry, okay?!”
Miles leaned in closer, his breath tickling the back of my neck and making me shiver uncontrollably.
But the man showed no signs of stopping.
“Lily”
“Wifey-”
I was backed into a corner with nowhere to retreat, frantically looking for an escape.
In broad daylight!
This isn’t right?!

Seeing me give up resisting, Miles‘ smile widened in triumph as he let me off the hook.
“Giddy up!”
“Let’s go!”
He planted a big kiss on my cheek and urged the horse into a gallop across the grasslands.
I was embarrassed and annoyed:
“Miles, you tricked me!”
“Looks like wifey really wanted to?”
“I did not!”
I protested, my face bright red.
It wasn’t very convincing.
Who told me to actually consider it for a second when Miles suggested it?!
I’m guilty! I repent!
We didn’t head back until the sun was about to set.
There was someone standing by the stables in the distance, their shadow stretching
long.
We stopped abruptly before getting close. I looked up at the person:
“Frank?”
I had just seen a social media post from Frank’s douchebag friends:
“My bro Frank is such a hero! Traveling far and wide to chase his love!”
Complete with a cringeworthy winking photo.

Miles and I were just discussing which poor girl was going to be the victim this time, debating if I should go play hero,
When I looked up and saw Frank staring intently at me.
I had a bad feeling.
Looks like the victim might be yours truly?!
Miles pulled me behind him as we walked, intending to ignore Frank.
“Lily!”
But Frank forcefully blocked our path, his eyes red:
“Lily, can we talk? Please?”
Miles looked down at me, biting his lip in silence.
He was about to let go of my hand to give us space,
But I moved closer, interlacing our fingers tightly.
“We have nothing to talk about. Please leave.”
But Frank stubbornly refused to budge:

“I know you saved me from the fire on the cruise ship!”
“You the clearly still love me. Why are you afraid to face your own heart?”
“I know you hired those models just to make me jealous, right?!”
The man tried to get closer, but I coldly stepped back.
The rejection visibly hurt him. Even his voice took on a pleading tone:
“Lily, let’s stop torturing each other, okay? Come home with me!”
“I promise I’ll treat you well from now on.”
“Be good, our parents are still waiting for us to get married!”
As he spoke, he tried to pull me out of Miles‘ arms.
I grabbed a cup of milk tea that had been brewing outside the yurt and threw it in his
face:
