Chapter 1
On our wedding day, Arthur Esperson grabbed his childhood sweetheart Cynthia Valentine and kissed her passionately.[]
The groomsmen cheered and applauded, shouting “Ship it!“[]
After lasting a full minute, Arthur finally released her, shrugging like it was nothing.
“Got too excited when I walked in. My bad–wrong girl.“||]
Cynthia smiled sweetly at me, her eyes twinkling as she said.]
“Oh honey, Arthur’s gonna be your hubby. You won’t take it that seriously, right?“]
I smiled back and yanked the veil off my head, tossing it at her.[]
“Of course not. Congratulations on YOUR wedding day!“]
…0
Cynthia’s bridesmaid dress was practically identical to my wedding gown.]]
So with the veil on, she looked even more like the bride than I did.[]
I grabbed both their hands and placed them together.]]
“You know what? If you two want, I can totally be the bridesmaid instead.“[]
The groomsmen who were just whooping it up suddenly went dead silent.[]
Cynthia turned to Arthur with these tearful puppy dog eyes, all innocent and hurt.[]
“Oh no… I think I made the bride mad at me.“]]
“Lorraine, I swear I didn’t mean to. I never thought this would happen…”
Arthur’s face went dark as he pulled her behind him.]
“I told you, I couldn’t see clearly when I walked in. Don’t be ridiculous right now.“]
The groomsmen started jumping in to defend him.
“Come on, Arthur’s always only had eyes for you, Lorraine.“]
I stared at that gorgeous face that had me hooked for seven years, but now all I saw was his worry for her. It made me sick.
If he actually gave a damn about me, he never would’ve agreed to let his precious childhood sweetheart Cynthia be my bridesmaid.[]
And there’s no way in hell he would’ve mistaken her for me on our wedding day and kissed her like that.[]
Even now, he still had that satisfied look on his face.
I waved them off.
Chapter 1
“Well, now that you’ve got your vision straight, just take your real bride and get out of here.“]
I ripped off the veil and headed straight for the door.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my wrist hard.[]
Arthur’s face was black as thunder.
“Are you done throwing your tantrum? Don’t forget–you’re the one who begged me to marry you!“]
He was right–this whole marriage was something I cried and pleaded for.
All because he saved me from some punks seven years ago, and I’ve been obsessed with him ever since.[]
Falling in love takes a second. Falling out of love? Just as fast.
I forced a smile. “Don’t worry. I won’t be forcing you into marriage anymore.”
His grip got tighter, his voice ice–cold.]
“The wedding’s all set up. You’re gonna run out on me now? What kind of game are you fucking playing?“]
I glanced over at Cynthia, who was barely hiding her smug smile.[]
“The whole wedding’s decorated exactly how she likes it anyway. Perfect for you two lovebirds.”
Cynthia, burst into crocodile tears.
“Lorraine, I was just trying to help out. This is all my fault. I should’ve known you wouldn’t like it…“]
Arthur cut her off.[]
“Don’t mind her drama. You were being nice. You don’t need to apologize for anything.“]
Their hands were already intertwined during words, fingers locked tight:
I let out a bitter laugh and pushed past them.]
Arthur’s cold threat followed me out.
“Let her go. She’ll come crawling back, crying and begging me to take her back!“]
Sorry, Arthur Esperson. This time, you were dead wrong.
