Chapter 2
Eline Hall looked at the doctor on the floor, a trace of jealousy and dissatisfaction flashing across her eyes.
“Victor, I’ve been carrying a child for several months now, but I’ve never been able to book an appointment with this specialist invited from Europe. It turns out that he’s not that busy; he just doesn’t want to treat me.”
I instinctively tried to explain, and hoped I could calm them down. “Your mother Catherine says all members of the Kaufman family can come here and get treated. I…”
Yet, Victor flew into a rage and slapped my face hard dozens of times, cutting me off.
He didn’t stop till blood seeped through my skin.
“You’ve really gone all out for the baby, haven’t you, Grace? You actually buttered my mom up. What a pity. I won’t let you give birth,” he sneered.
Then he tossed me to the floor as if I were a bag of trash and coaxed Eline gently, “Baby, no need to get worked up over such a woman.
“I’ll only acknowledge the baby you’re carrying; no one else gets to be my
heir.
“I’ll make sure her baby stays out of your way today.”
Only then did Eline feel better, and she stepped on my hand.
I instinctively withdrew it, and Victor slapped me again right away.

Chapter 2
Eline reached for the pen on the floor; then she unscrewed it and pointed it at my belly.
Looking conflicted, she said, “Victor, I don’t know why, but I suddenly want to try out the termination procedure my teacher taught us in class today. Today’s the weekend, and the doctors here are swamped.
“How about I find out the structure of a woman’s belly now? With this, I’ll be more confident when I deliver. What do you say?”
The ink flowed out from the nib of the pen and dripped onto my belly. With a gentle smile on her face, Eline stabbed the pen into my belly.
Blood instantly soaked through my dress.
The great pain made me curl up as tears streamed down my face.
As that–man’s words echoed in my mind, I figured that I should endure it now, only by doing this could I protect myself and the baby till he came back.
I used all my might to push the pen away, pleading while trembling, “Please, you can torture me however you want, just leave my baby alone…”
The smile on Eline’s face faded, and she slowly loosened her grip on the pen.
Smacking her mouth, she said to Victor, “Gee, she loves you so much, Victor. See how she desperately tries to protect her baby? I’m getting a bit jealous.”
Victor stepped on my face contemptuously, took the pen from her hand, and thrust it into my hand on my belly.
Blood oozed out.

He said coldly, “I despise women who use their kids to climb up the most. I’ll make sure she regrets even having this idea.”
With that, he grabbed my hair and dragged me into the operating room.
As the doors opened, I saw that the inside was cold, dark, and deep as if an abyss waiting to devour me.
I struggled desperately, my heart–wrenching cries echoing through the examination room.
But no one dared to make a sound, let alone speak up for me.
The Kaufman family had vast connections in Houston, and even the mayor didn’t dare to disrespect them. Murdering a person, for them, was definitely easy.
