Chapter 17

Isabella realized she couldn’t stop him, and since she couldn’t get around him either, she decided to ask directly.

“Did you order someone to run Aura over?”

“What do you mean?”

Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“Weren’t you the one who told me to come?”

As if recalling something, his voice turned ice-cold.

“How is she exactly?”

“Ethan.” Isabella’s anger flared, and she pulled him aside.

“Someone deliberately drove into her…”

But before she could finish-

“Ethan!” Lilian caught up.

Her face was clean, the fake blood wiped off. She didn’t dare let Isabella, a doctor, see those blood packs she was hiding.

Now, only worry showed on her face.

“How is Aurora?”

Isabella’s anger flared again the moment she saw Lilian.

“Ethan, you came to see Aura, and you brought her along?” Isabella pointed at Lilian and snapped, “Do you want to kill

Aurora with anger?”

After that, Isabella didn’t want them hanging around outside the ward and pulled them toward the emergency exit.

Lilian seemed startled and shrank behind Ethan, speaking softly, “Dr. Carter, it’s not what you think. When you called

Ethan, I just happened to be in the car.”

“It was hard to stop then, and Ethan was worried about Aurora, so we came together.”

Isabella thought it was ridiculous.

They clearly knew Aurora hated Lilian, that homewrecker, but still brought her along-as if showing up at the hospital meant she had to come in too.

Couldn’t she just wait in the car?

Or take a walk nearby?

Ridiculous.

Thinking this, Isabella almost laughed from anger.

“Oh right, I almost forgot. Tonight you two entered the Steele Group building together and left the same car so intimately.”

Isabella sneered, “I saw it trending online.”

“You-”

Lilian’s eyes reddened with grievance.

They stood at the emergency exit. Ethan pulled Lilian close, as if protecting her.

Isabella felt even more disgusted.

Parading their relationship all over the internet, then acting like this at the hospital-were they really worried about Aurora, or just showing off?

“If you are only here to show your love, then get lost. I won’t tolerate this behavior!”

Lilian stayed silent, lowered her head, and pretended to be hurt.

Ethan frowned and said, “Don’t take it out on her. What exactly did you mean earlier?”

“Someone deliberately ran into Aurora,” Isabella didn’t hold back, “I suspect you hired someone to do it.”

Before Ethan could respond, Lilian stepped forward.

“Dr. Carter, isn’t that a bit insulting?”

Lilian spoke righteously, “There could be many reasons Aurora had a car accident. How can you immediately pin it on

Ethan?”

She looked angry but quickly added, “You were the one who called Ethan to come here. We’re already here, but you still

won’t let us see Aurora. What do you mean by that, Dr. Carter?”

“Is it because Aurora is perfectly fine and you’re afraid to show us?”

Lilian’s words enraged Isabella completely.

She recalled Aurora’s miserable state when she first arrived.

And the fear she felt after learning the whole story.

Aurora had the Rh-negative blood trait; even without being pregnant, accidents were dangerous.

Not to mention she was carrying Ethan’s child!

And this Lilian-who allowed her to slander Aurora here?

Isabella snapped, “Lilian, you’re so quick to blame Ethan that you’re willing to cover up the fact that you were the one who

hit her!”

“You-”

A flicker of panic flashed in Lilian’s eyes but was quickly hidden behind feigned grievance.

Ethan stood in front of Lilian, his voice cold.

“Since 8:45 tonight, Lilian has been followed by paparazzi after leaving Vivian’s flower studio. Her entire schedule was

exposed online, and she’s been with me ever since.”

Isabella gritted her teeth.

“She could have hired someone.”

Ethan’s brow furrowed, eyes sharp with anger.

“Isabella, don’t cross the line.”

In the hospital room,

Aurora struggled in endless darkness.

The darkness was like a swamp, pulling her deeper and swallowing her whole.

She always felt like she had forgotten something.

Something she needed to fight for.

Fear and terror gripped her.

She tried to get up, but her limbs wouldn’t move.

After an unknown amount of time, she finally saw a point of light.

She gathered all her strength and crawled toward it.

The moment she touched the light, she saw a small cottage filled with a happy family of three.

A pure white wool carpet and a black grand piano.

A little girl sat on the bench, her fingers pressing hesitant, unskilled notes on the piano keys.

The song was Beethoven’s “Fur Elise”.

A breeze blew through the old windowpanes, lifting pure white curtains.

The warm sunlight poured into the Western European countryside-style home.

Bright and beautiful.

The little girl grew frustrated after a few failed attempts and began banging the keys randomly.

At that moment, a gentle and handsome man walked over.

His voice was soft, as if reaching through time:

“Aura, you have to be patient.”

The girl pouted, her big dark eyes full of grievance.

With her lips pursed like an oil can spout, she said,

“Daddy, I’ve been learning for over a week, but I still can’t play well. It’s so hard.”

The man smiled, stroked her head, and sat on the bench.

He played a piece of “Für Elise” in front of her.

He looked at the girl and said,

“See, Daddy learned it. You’re my daughter, so you can do it too.”

The girl’s eyes sparkled with admiration.

“Wow! When did you learn that, Daddy?”

The man chuckled softly, holding her hand, guiding her fingers on the keys, from clumsy to smooth.

The piano melody flowed from their fingertips.

“Daddy just learned it recently too,” he said kindly.

“Because you’re learning piano, Daddy learned with you.”

The girl played seriously, praising from her heart,

“Daddy, you’re amazing!”

“You’re the amazing one, Aura.”

The man laughed and slowly let go of her hand, watching her play softly without realizing it.

“All you need to do is believe in yourself.”

He released his hand completely.

“You’re my only daughter. Everything I have is yours. Since the moment you were born, it was destined-the Sinclair

family’s future lies with you.”

“Daddy, can I really do it?” the girl asked, confused.

“You can,” the man chuckled.

The flowing piano notes were like a gentle breeze, and his eyes were full of admiration and love for the girl.

He said, “See, you’re doing it now.”
