Chapter 25
Tears seemed endless, dripping without stopping.
Why was it that everything she wanted to hold onto always slipped away?
Her family, her loved ones, the Sinclair family… and even her child.
She couldn’t keep any of them.
She tried every possible way to hold on, but it was like sand slipping through her fingers. No matter how tightly she grasped, they would all eventually vanish.
It made her feel powerless.
Aurora pressed her hand against her stomach and clenched her fist tightly.
She still wasn’t strong enough.
She couldn’t stay by anyone’s side for now, nor rely on anyone as her harbor.
She had to work hard.
She had to seize her career firmly in her hands.
For the Sinclair family, she had to restore its glory.
For her father’s death, she had to uncover the truth.
And her mother…
She would give it everything she had so that the pain would never return.
Aurora cried for a long time, until her tears finally ran dry.
The pain seemed to fade as well, leaving her numb.
No joy, no sorrow-that wasn’t so bad after all.
Thinking this, Aurora felt she could keep going.
When Isabella and Alexander came back, Aurora had already pulled herself together.
“Here, Aura, drink this soup.” Isabella opened the thermos with a smile and said, “Try it and see if you like it.”
Aurora took it. It was a rich vegetable soup, fragrant and warm.
Under Isabella’s hopeful gaze, she took a sip. The taste lingered pleasantly in her mouth.
“It’s delicious,” Aurora said.
“If it tastes good, eat more.” Isabella looked at Aurora’s pale face and said, “Get better quickly.”

Aurora nodded firmly.
She would get better.
Alexander also shared some updates he had just learned during his recent discussions.
While they were talking here, on the other side, Ethan opened his eyes on the sofa.
The coat he had worn yesterday was draped over him. On the nearby table, the ashtray was filled with cigarette butts.
This was his apartment near the company. When work was busy, he stayed here temporarily. After marrying Aurora, he
rarely came here anymore.
His head still felt heavy and uncomfortable. Instinctively, he reached for his phone nearby.
Scrolling through messages, he unconsciously skipped many notifications until he found the chat with Aurora.
There was still only the one message he had sent her earlier: “I told Grampa that you are sick and couldn’t come to see
him. This weekend, you must come back with me to the Steele house.”
Frowning, he threw the phone aside.
Ethan sat up, rubbed his forehead, then stood up barefoot, walking all the way to the bathroom.
He turned on the faucet and scooped up cold water, splashing it on his face.
He tried to clear his mind quickly.
But strangely, his thoughts flashed back to years ago, after many late nights working for the company, when he also felt
this heavy fog in his head.
Back then, Aurora had stayed by his side, sharing the hardships, handling company affairs with him, and going through
the company’s transformations together.
He remembered that day clearly-he had used cold water to wake himself up, and Aurora stood nearby with a clean towel.
When he turned around, she gently wiped the water from his face as if caring for a little puppy, then ruffled his damp hair.
He frowned as he took the towel, and she softly rubbed his temples.
“Feeling better?” Her gentle voice still echoed in his ears.
Hearing her, his tired heart seemed to calm a bit.
“We should get results today,” she had said back then. “Ethan, what do you want to eat? I’ll cook for you tonight.”
Though he had long since tasted Michelin-star restaurants all over the world due to social events and business, his favorite was always the food she made with her own hands.
Simple, yet full of warmth.
That day, before he could say what he wanted to eat, the phone rang.
