But none of that really mattered. Ethan’s official wife, Aurora, was already completely under control. So Lilian didn’t worry much about this other woman, Alexander’s protégée.
Meanwhile, Aurora was backstage, checking the stage setup.
VocalNight had a total of twelve contestants and three guest mentors. The competition would have five rounds, each spaced one week apart.
The show first aired live, then edited the highlights for online release, catering to both live and online audiences.
Tonight was the first live broadcast, mainly for the guests and contestants to make their appearances and choose their
teams.
The twelve contestants would be divided among the three guest mentors.
One of the mentors was Lilian, and the other two were well-known professional singers in the industry.
Aurora carefully walked through her stage positions.
They had done rehearsals before, but she had been too weak to attend properly. She had only watched remotely and
coordinated the rest through virtual communication.
There had been rumors about Alba being a prima donna during rehearsals, but Alexander had quietly settled the matter within the company by presenting an anonymized medical report.
Apparently, Alba had suffered a serious accident ten days earlier.
Even from a close view, staff could still see bruises peeking through the foundation on Alba’s skin.
It was clear she had missed rehearsals because of injury, so there was no real diva behavior.
Aurora noticed the staff’s subtle glances but didn’t know the details and simply focused on her own preparations.
After a while, a commotion broke out, and Aurora instinctively looked up.
She saw Ethan.
“Wow, it really is Mr. Steele!”
“Isn’t Ethan supposed to avoid these kinds of events?”
“Come on, have you seen who the guests are?”
“Oh, I get it-it’s definitely for Lilian.”
“Exactly. Even though Steele Group has some entertainment ventures, their main focus is still on high-tech. Look at all the guests and contestants here; besides Lilian, who else could pull Ethan to show up?”
“So the rumors about Lilian and Ethan are true?”

“I agree. If my boyfriend flirted around like that, I’d kick him out without hesitation. A dependent, powerless wife like that
deserves it.”
“Enough gossip!” Alexander walked over with a displeased look. “Don’t you know you shouldn’t talk like that?”
The gossipers immediately quieted down.
Alexander glanced at Aurora with concern.
With so many people around, he couldn’t say much and just gestured at her with his eyes.
Aurora smiled faintly and shook her head.
She had already made up her mind not to hold onto Ethan, so what did she care about rumors?
“I’ve arranged for someone to go over the details with you again backstage. Let’s head over now,” Alexander said.
Aurora nodded and followed him toward the backstage area.
Meanwhile, Lilian approached Ethan.
“Ethan!” Lilian greeted him with a smile.
Ethan nodded in response.
As he looked up, he happened to see Alexander escorting a woman in a long coat backstage.
He caught a glimpse of her back.
Following Ethan’s gaze, Lilian smiled.
“That’s Alba.”
“She’s the mysterious contestant I mentioned to you before. I suspect she’s Alexander’s girlfriend.”
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
Lilian explained, “She missed rehearsals a few days ago, and some people complained that Alba was a prima donna. But Alexander submitted her medical records internally-she had an accident ten days ago and was bedridden during
rehearsals.”
“I hadn’t thought much of it until I just got a top-secret info.”
Lilian smiled mysteriously and said, “That accident ten days ago… was a miscarriage.”
