I actually laughed.
They were so out of line, it was laughable.
Corbin and I were seven years apart-not exactly cradle-robbing-but the way they went on, you’d think I was pushing a walker and he was fresh out of high
school.
Back in my last life, Corbin used to gaslight me all the time.
Called me old, ugly, said only a fool like him would ever want someone like me.
And like a total idiot, I believed it.
Turns out, he had a damn charm system on him. Literally.
A system that made people fall for him.
And me? I was just another victim.
He started chasing me back in college.
I had just inherited my family’s business and was already running the company.
At first, he played the whole “shy boy next door” act-turning down my gifts with one hand and grabbing them with the other.
Said I was just “like a big sister” to him, always so polite and aloof.
And I fell for it.

When he told me his family couldn’t afford tuition and he might have to drop out, I stepped in. Gave him $55,000 a semester without a second thought.
He acted reluctant, but Serena was always nearby, putting on some sob story about studying hard her whole life only to drop out because of money.
I bought it-hook, line, and sinker.
Later, when he couldn’t land a job after college, he came crying to me again.
Said he hated seeing me overworked, and he just wanted to help.
Claimed it was harder for a man to make money.
And like a fool, I gave him a job-at my own company.
And not just him.
He dragged Serena in too, called her his “little sister,” told me not to be so paranoid.
That damn charm system had me under a spell.
I worked my ass off for him. Groomed him to take over.
Even handed him part of the company.
And what did he do the moment he got promoted to CEO?
Dumped me.
I refused to let go-so he shoved me off a bridge and left me to drown.
And the worst part? I watched it all after I died.
My soul just… hovered there.
I saw him talking to thin air.
Chapter 2
“Wipe the evidence.” he told that creepy invisible ‘Charm System.
“Make sure they think it was suicide.”
And it worked.
The cops closed my case within a week.
Accidental death.
Case closed.
Then he married Serena.
On their wedding day, I saw him again, mumbling to no one like a lunatic.

“Charm System, are you sure the luck I took from Elara is enough to keep me on top?”
“If not… well, didn’t she have a little sister overseas?”
“She runs a pretty successful startup.”
“Might be worth tapping into that luck too.”
No one answered, but he nodded to himself like a psychopath.
‘Good. Took me long enough to rope her in.”
Without you, I don’t think I could’ve pulled it off.”
And then came the dagger to the heart: “You know, I did like Elara.”
‘She was dumb as hell. But Serena? She’s smart. She knows her place.”
‘I could be juggling three mistresses and she wouldn’t say a word.”
That’s when it hit me.
Corbin never loved me. Not once.
He was a user with a damn system backing him-and I was just a means to an end.
But now?
Now I was back.
And this time, I wasn’t saving him.
