Chapter 4

The room fell silent as Ursula’s voice rang out from the phone.

“What the hell took you so long? We were supposed to meet!”

Paxton’s face went pale in an instant.

“Blame that bitch June,” his voice snapped through the speaker, full of irritation. “She wouldn’t stop dragging me into drinks. I barely got away to find you.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Ursula lunged toward me, trying to snatch the phone from my hand. “Don’t listen to that! She faked it-it’s all fake! She’s

trying to frame me!”

One of the Pack Enforcers yanked her back. “Ma’am, please stay back. Let us finish listening.”

Ursula’s voice continued.

“June’s brother comes back tomorrow. If we don’t act now, we’ll be nothing but dirty little secrets hiding in the dark.”

“Once we pin it on June, they’ll lock her up and throw away the key. After that, we deal with the rest of her family-and when Tristan’s pack falls, everything he owns becomes ours.”

The air in the room seemed to freeze solid.

My parents’ faces turned sheet-white. Tristan looked like he was about to break something.

But the recording wasn’t finished yet.

“Paxton, you have no idea how excited I was when I saw you again. I thought I’d never find you in this life. For you, I’d do

anything.”

Then came the unmistakable sound of heavy breathing, moans, and the wet, rhythmic noises of sex.

A low murmur spread among the onlookers.

“So they’re not just scheming liars-they’re a full-blown affair.”

“All this, just to steal a pack and someone’s legacy? That’s sick.”

“Wait, wait… are you telling me our new Luna slept with her mate’s sister’s Alpha? And then framed the Alpha’s sister just to wipe out her whole family?”

When the audio ended, I met Paxton’s ghost-white face with a sharp, icy stare.

“You swore just now I forced you to do this. So what now, Paxton? How exactly do you explain that recording?”

He collapsed to his knees, head bowed, unable to speak.

Ursula, still trying to save herself, shrieked, “There’s no way she could’ve known what we were planning! She had to fake

that recording-she had to!”

The lead Pack Enforcer frowned.

“We’ll verify its authenticity through the official labs. If the recording is indeed fabricated, she’ll face charges for false testimony. But if it’s real…”

He pulled out a pair of gleaming silver cuffs and snapped them onto both Paxton and Ursula’s wrists.

“You two are coming with us for a formal investigation.”

Ursula gripped Tristan’s arm like her life depended on it.

“Please! Tristan, help me! I’m being framed-I swear it! You can’t let them do this-I’m pregnant!”

Paxton said nothing. He just knelt there, shoulders slumped, face hollow. He had given up.

Tristan’s voice trembled with fury. “Why?” he demanded. “Why the hell would you do this?”

“Answer me!”

Behind him, our father stood deathly still, jaw clenched, his fury boiling just beneath the surface.

Ursula looked around the room, desperate for someone-anyone-to defend her. But the crowd had turned. No one met

her eyes. Not even Paxton.

Her lips trembled. Tears welled up, then spilled freely down her cheeks… until suddenly, something in her snapped.

The fear twisted into fury. Her eyes locked onto Tristan with venom.

“You want to know why? Because you marked me and ruined everything! I was supposed to be with Paxton-he was the

one I loved! And you-you stole that from me!”

That did it.

The wolves gathered outside exploded in rage.

“She’s got the nerve to talk about love? After everything she did?”

“A Luna like that? Disgusting.”

“She planned the whole thing and still dares to cry victim?”

I couldn’t help it-my lips curled into a smirk as I watched Ursula spiral into ruin.

“You say you and Paxton were each other’s first love,” I said calmly. “Then tell me-when exactly did that start?”

Ursula lifted her chin, pride flashing in her eyes.

“He was twenty when we got together. He told me himself-I was his first.”
