Chapter 1
The day my husband died, Julian dragged me forcibly into his bedroom.
After that night of passion, he vanished without a trace.
I was left alone to face a tsunami of abuse and accusations.
“Her husband’s barely cold in the ground and she’s already seducing his brother. What a desperate
slut.”
“How do you even show your face in public? You should just kill yourself.”
Cast out from my home, I gave birth to his child under a filthy bridge.
His fiancée developed a vicious hatred for me too.
She had me kidnapped and taken to a private club, forced to serve men while naked until they
tortured me to death.
The day my bones were reduced to ashes, he finally returned:
“Where’s Vivian? Bring her out now.”
“When she chose my brother over me back then, I decided she needed to taste what it’s like to be
consumed by vicious rumors.”
“The punishment ends here. We’ll live happily together from now on.”
My seven–year–old son, clutching my urn of ashes, told him with empty eyes:
“My mother is dead. If you want to be with her, just go find her in the grave.”
My son was digging through a garbage bin for food when Julian appeared.
Backlit by the sun, dressed in a tailored suit, Julian towered over my boy with contemptuous eyes:
“You’re Liam Reed?”
“Why are you so filthy? Like some street beggar.”
I despised Julian for abandoning us, and refused to let my son have any connection to him.
That’s why my son carried my surname.
My boy gave him a cold glance before lowering his head again:
“Excuse me, you’re blocking my lunch search.”
Julian’s face twisted with disgust as he looked at my son:
“Vivian really ruined you. Not an ounce of proper upbringing.”
“I’m your father. You shouldn’t speak to me that way.”
“Mom said my father died long ago. You’re a liar.”
With that, my son continued rummaging through the trash.
Hearing this, Julian suddenly kicked him to the ground with a sneer:
“Just because I ignored her for a few years after she rejected me, she’s playing these childish games.”
“Getting you to join her little charade. How pathetically desperate.”
My son struggled to his feet, his expression remaining cold and numb:
“Mister, please leave me alone. If I don’t find something today, I’ll go hungry all day.”
Julian scrutinized my son with obvious revulsion:
“Cut the act. Audrey already told me everything.”
“You and your mother are just playing poor to get my sympathy.”

Then he thrust his phone toward my son:
“Call your mother. Tell her to show herself immediately.”
“My patience is running thin. If she keeps stalling, I have ways to teach her a lesson.”
My son took the phone with contempt and immediately smashed it against the ground:
“My mother is dead. If you want to be with her, go find her in the grave.”
Julian stared at my son, shocked and furious.
I hovered beside my son, wishing I could applaud his courage.
Since he was old enough to understand, Julian’s relatives and friends had harassed us relentlessly.
His fiancée, furious about his disappearance, blamed everything on me.
My son and I endured their torment daily–spit on our faces, treated like animals by children his age, fingers repeatedly stabbed with needles, not an inch of our bodies left unbruised.
And Julian–he was the architect of our miserable existence.
My son hated him with every fiber of his being. There was no possibility of civility between them.
Seeing the tension between them, Audrey’s eyes flickered with satisfaction. She clung to Julian’s arm:
‘Come now, let’s not argue with a child.”
“Let’s take little Liam home. When Vivian realizes he’s gone, she’ll definitely come looking for you.”
Julian immediately softened at her gentle coaxing.
I watched coldly, my lips curled in mockery.
Julian and I grew up together, and he claimed he would love me forever.
But during the massive earthquake, he abandoned me without hesitation, choosing Audrey instead.

From that day on, I gave up on him completely and married his brother finally.
Yet driven by jealousy, after Maxwell died, Julian forced himself on me against my will, and pushed my life into an inescapable abyss.
Liam had suffered Audrey’s abuse many times before. He stepped back warily:
“You manipulative witch. Stop pretending. I’m not going anywhere with you.”
SLAP!
Julian glared at my son and delivered a vicious slap across his face:
“How dare you! Audrey is trying to help you, and this is how you speak to her?”
My son clutched his face and collapsed to the ground. His swollen cheek made my heart wrench in
pain.
I wanted nothing more than to kill Julian right there, but I was already dead, powerless to do anything but watch my son suffer…
Meeting my son’s reddened eyes, Julian hesitated, instinctively reaching to lift him up:
“Dad didn’t mean to…”
My son twisted away from his touch.
Seeing Julian soften toward my son, Audrey shot the boy a venomous glare.
