Chapter 7
Early the next morning, the door to the hospital room was thrust open.
Julian groggily awoke, instinctively reaching out to protect his son.
It was his parents.
Just seeing their faces filled me with dread.
Audrey had caused me physical pain, but Julian’s parents had inflicted torture that scarred my very
soul.
After escaping from their house, I would wake up in agony whenever I dreamed of them.
Now, Julian looked at them coldly: “What are you doing here?”
His mother stepped forward and slapped him hard across the face:
“We’re here to see just how crazy you’ve become over that whore!”
Julian jumped to his feet:
“Show some respect! Vivian was my wife, not a whore!”
“Your only wife should be Audrey, never Vivian!”
Ignoring her, Julian confronted his mother: “When I left, I told you to take care of her. Why didn’t you do as I asked?!”
Hearing this, his father rushed over and slapped him too:
“You’ve lost your mind! She was your brother’s wife who shamelessly seduced you. The world is
better off without women like her.”
They spoke from their high horse, treating me like the lowest insect on earth.
Actually, it was Julian who forced himself on me against my will, yet they blamed everything on me.
How ridiculous!
His mother warned him:
“Free Audrey immediately. Marry her and send that little bastard away.”
“He’ll only bring shame to our family.”
“Absolutely not. Mom, Liam is my only son, and I will never marry anyone else!”
“Ungrateful child! What did you just say?! Say it again?!”
Julian’s face darkened as he looked at them:
‘Only because you’re my parents have I not held you accountable for Vivian’s death.”
‘If you keep interfering, don’t blame me for showing no mercy.”
His father, feeling his authority challenged, stared at him with bulging eyes:
‘You’ve grown bold! Let me remind you–I am the head of this family! You have no right to say no to
me.”
‘We’ll see about that.” Julian said coldly.
With that, his parents left, seething with rage.
[ulian didn’t give them another thought, lowering his head to hold his son’s hand:
‘Son, I know the truth now. Everyone who hurt you and your mom–I won’t let a single one of them
go unpunished.”
But watching his remorse, I felt no joy–only disgust.
They say a soul can pass on when the person who wronged them repents, but for some reason, my soul wouldn’t dissipate.
So day after day, I was forced to watch his performance of belated devotion…
His first target for revenge was Audrey.
He hired thugs to break her arms and legs, leaving her begging in the streets.
Once she had adapted to that life, Julian brought her back to the basement, healed her injuries, cleaned her up, and sent her to the same club:
“Whatever you did to my wife, I’m paying you back a hundred times over. Hope you enjoy it.”
When she tried to secretly ask clients for help, Julian’s men poured boiling water down her throat, destroying her vocal cords so she couldn’t speak.
Next came the clients who had abused me.
Julian brought them all to the basement and forced them to kill each other–comply or everyone dies
They had no choice. Three days later, when the basement fell silent, only one man remained.
Just as he thought he’d be spared, Julian walked in with a knife.
Too exhausted to fight back, the man could only watch as he was injected with anesthesia and,
half–conscious, had his flesh cut away piece by piece.
Julian’s final targets were his parents.
His father, older now and lacking Julian’s ruthlessness, quickly surrendered after a few business threats from Julian’s company.
Afterward, Julian sent both his parents to a nursing home on a remote island.
Reportedly, the staff there were cruel, and with ocean on all sides, escape was impossible.
Having completed his revenge, Julian finally gathered the courage to face my memorial photo:
“Vivian, I’ve avenged you.”
“I’m truly sorry. I never meant for you to die.”
“I just couldn’t accept that you didn’t choose me.”
“We were childhood sweethearts, and you completely gave up on me over one small mistake.”
married my brother, watching you two fall deeper in love every day drove me insane
“After you with jealousy.”
“I had finally waited until my brother died. We could have had a beautiful future together, but I ruined everything.”
“Now I’ve punished everyone who hurt you. Can you forgive me?”
Just then, Liam pushed open the door: “No. There’s still one person you haven’t dealt with.”
Julian turned to see police officers behind Liam and froze:
“Liam, what are you doing?”
Liam ignored him, showing the police the house surveillance footage:
“Officer, this is evidence of his premeditated murders.”
Julian’s face turned ashen. Tears welled in his eyes, but his voice remained gentle:
“If this is the ending you want, son, then I’ll accept it.”
“You’ve got the wrong person. I don’t have a father. My father died before I was born.”
Soon after, Julian was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder with overwhelming evidence.
When he heard the news, Liam sat by the small grave he’d made for me, holding my photo:
“Mom, did you hear? From now on, no one will ever hurt us again.”
Just as I tried to embrace his small, pitiful form, my soul began to dissipate.
I finally understood–my unfinished thing wasn’t getting my abuser’s repentance, but my concern
for Liam.
Chapter 7
Now Liam was safe, adopted by a kind family who promised to help heal his voice, so my lingering attachment naturally faded away.
Watching half my body disappear, I used my last strength to hug Liam:
“Liam, Mommy loves you. I hope you’ll have a happy life from now on.”
