When Solarius crossed the finish line, Selene was still in a daze.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel, her mind whirling, struggling to catch up with reality.
“Luna! You did it! You won!!”
Selene blinked in surprise and turned her head. Adrian had already pulled off his helmet, and his eyes–sharp, golden, full of unrestrained joy–sparkled like stars.
He reached out and gently removed Selene’s helmet, letting her dark hair spill out like silk.
Selene tried to steady her ragged breathing, her heart still racing from the adrenaline of the race.
She looked up. In Adrian’s luminous eyes, she saw only her own reflection.
“Luna, welcome back!” Adrian’s voice was rich with warmth, as if she were the most precious thing in the world.
“You’ve always been my champion,” he said with quiet conviction, still riding the high from the race, his chest rising and falling as the heat in the car grew thick.
Selene gazed at him, her expression earnest. “There’s something I’ve been wondering, ever since I first saw Solarius on the circuit. How did you know I was Luna, Mr. Shaw?”
Before she was recognized by the Thompsons, she went by Selene–her racing license always read Selene. She’d thought she’d done a flawless job hiding her identity as a driver.
Adrian leaned back, draping an arm casually over the seat. He grinned, teeth white as porcelain. “Because I’m the owner of the Luna Racing Club.”
Selene’s eyes widened in shock. “It was you? You were the one who brought me into
Luna?”
He nodded, eyes narrowing with a playful glint. “That’s right.”
Selene stared at him, almost awestruck. “So it was you. You’re the reason I became
Luna.”
Back then, when she joined the club, she had just one condition: they had to protect her privacy–her face and real name had to stay secret.

At that time, she was still a nobody. Female racers were rare enough in the circuit, and no one wanted to invest in her.
But the owner of Luna Racing Club had offered her a chance.
Selene had already made her fortune in the stock market. She’d poured everything she had into racing, funneling all her money into building her unbeatable machine–Solarius.
She’d been reckless and young, throwing herself wholeheartedly into every passion. She’d thought loving someone would be the same: if she just loved hard enough, she’d get love in return.
Selene lowered her head, her silky black hair veiling her face, hiding her emotions.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered.
“You don’t owe me anything. There’s no need to apologize,” Adrian said gently. “Luna Racing Club only exists because of you. If you’re gone, the club has no meaning.
I picked you because I wanted to prove I had an eye for the extraordinary. Out of everyone, you were the one who stood out.”
He paused, his voice catching.
Signing her retirement papers had left him hollow, a storm of regret churning in his chest. Only then did Adrian realize how little he’d understood about love and longing–until it was too late.
After that, all he could do was keep the moonlight locked away in his heart.
A tap at Solarius’s window broke the silence. Selene looked up and saw Harrison standing by the car.
She lowered the window. Still strapped into the driver’s seat, helmet on, her racing suit hiding her form.
Harrison’s gaze was sharp, almost predatory.
His breathing had calmed, but his heart still hammered in his chest. It had been ages since anyone had made his pulse race like this; the thrill of the chase set every nerve on fire.
He pulled out a business card and scribbled the Vaughn estate’s address on the back.
He held it through the window. “Miss Luna, you can come by the Vaughn estate

anytime to pick up your car.”
Selene reached out, pinching the card between two gloved fingers. As Harrison let go, the expensive card slipped from her grasp and fluttered to the ground, his name landing face–down in the dust.
He frowned–no professional driver would fumble something as simple as a business card.
Just then, Damien dashed over, breathless with excitement. He stopped by Solarius’s door, eyes shining with admiration.
Clasping his hands before him, he said earnestly, “Hi, Luna. My name’s Damien. After watching you race, I just had to say–I’m your biggest fan! Can we be friends?”
