“Tsk.” Harrison put his phone down, irritation written all over his face. Selene was still determined to butt heads with him.
“Oh, come on! Stop letting Selene get under your skin!”
With a laugh, Felicity threw her arm around Harrison’s neck and gave his chest a hearty slap, unbothered by the boundaries others might have respected.
He didn’t push her away.
Still clinging to him, Felicity sauntered back with Harrison into the private lounge.
Inside, the sons and daughters of old–money families were deep in conversation about the stock market’s latest surge.
“I heard from a little bird that the Vaughn family just invested six million in Quantum Horizon Capital a couple days ago.”
Nothing slipped past these socialites. The news of Selene, Quantum Horizon Capital, and an eight–figure deal had already made the rounds.
All eyes turned to Harrison.
He hesitated for a split second, thinking Selene must have just gotten lucky–like a blind squirrel finding a nut.
He sprawled into his chair, looking perfectly at ease, and said with a detached air, “My wife just has a knack for good timing, that’s all.”
He couldn’t help but wonder if Selene had overheard some insider stock tips the last time she’d wandered into his study.
Otherwise, where would she get the guts to throw every penny she had into the
market?
But stock surges were fleeting. Right now, Selene’s profits were all on paper. Whether she could turn that six million into real gains was anyone’s guess.
Given her experience as a janitor…
Just the thought of it made Harrison smirk.
*With the six million and the property and stock options you gave me, I’ll never have to worry about money again. So please, ex–husband, save your concern for
someone else!*

Selene’s voice rang in his mind.
Did she really think all she had now truly belonged to her?
Money, property, options–if he wanted, he could take it all back, even if her name was on the paperwork.
Someone spoke up, cautiously probing, “Is it true you two are divorced?”
Harrison’s expression turned cold. “She’s just acting out–a seven–year itch. I gave her a little money, told her to go enjoy herself. Once she’s had her fill, she’ll come back.”
Laughter broke out among the group. “Mr. Vaughn, you really do spoil your
rotten!”
wife
Felicity chimed in, her voice booming, “Women are so dramatic! If I had a husband like you, I wouldn’t give him any trouble! Enough about women, they’re exhausting. Come on, boys, let’s have a drink!”
She slapped the table, raising her glass.
Just then, Harrison’s phone buzzed again.
“Sir, the young master is refusing to go to his extracurricular class. And… he hasn’t done his homework in days. The tutor tried to make him study, but he drove her
off.”
Nadine had already called Gemma for help.
The old lady insisted that if Dames refused his classes, the teachers must be the problem. She promised to find him new ones.
As for the homework tutor, if one got fired, another could be hired. But in this gap between teachers, it fell to Nadine and the other household staff to coax Dames into doing his homework.
Earlier, Dames had thrown a tantrum, hurling things around and leaving a nasty bump on Nadine’s forehead,
If Madam Vaughn found out, she’d just blame the staff and probably fire Nadine on the spot rather than reprimand her precious grandson.
So Nadine, nursing the pain at her temple, had no choice but to call Harrison for help.
“I want to go to the amusement park! Take me to the amusement park!!”

Felicity could hear Dames‘ shouting through the phone.
A chill settled on Harrison’s face. “Put Damien on the phone.”
“I’ll talk to him,” Felicity interjected quickly.
She took Harrison’s phone, and soon heard Damien’s reluctant voice: “Hello, Dad…”
“It’s me, sweetheart!”
“Flick!” Damien’s voice instantly brightened.
Felicity soothed him, “How about this–you finish your homework first, okay? In an hour, I’ll take you out for some real fun.”
When Felicity took him out, “fun” meant something entirely different–go–kart racing, the shooting range, roller coasters, burgers and fries, sodas galore.
She’d even taken him to a bar once, just to see how the world worked. His mother would never dream of letting him have that kind of adventure.
