Chapter 7
Seeing the scene in front of him, Dexter’s face went ghost-white with terror.
“Miss Bennett, I hope I’m not too late?”
I checked my watch right on the twenty-minute mark.
‘Perfect timing, Uncle Dexter. Your son was just about to sic his security team on me.”
Dexter’s response was immediate and sincere.
CRACK!
The slap echoed across the crowd as five bright red finger marks bloomed across Louis’s cheek.

You fucking idiot! Do you have any idea what you just did? Apologize to Miss Bennett right now!”
ouis was clearly stunned by the slap, staring at his father in complete confusion.
Dad, what the hell? Why are you hitting me?”
She’s the one who disrespected you and looked down on our family. Why are you taking some outsider’s side against me?”
Vatching this play out, my rage started to simmer down a bit.
ar not enough – the Johnson family still owed me some answers.
Dexter’s eyes blazed as he delivered another sharp slap.
You have the nerve to ask me why?”
Miss Bennett has her reasons for everything she does. It’s not your place to question her!”
le turned to me with an apologetic smile, then faced the crowd again.
Anyone who disrespect Miss Bennett today is fired immediately!”
had to admit, the company founder was handling this much more intelligently than his son.
exter’s words carried absolute authority, but Louis’s brain was still scrambled.

And Carrie happened to be one of them.
Uncle Dexter, this bitch obviously has zero respect for your family. Louis was just trying to defend the Johnson name. Why are you ;oing ballistic?”
Even if this woman has some connections, we’re still in New York. The Johnson Corporation’s reputation has to count for something!”
The crowd murmured in agreement with Carrie’s assessment.
But Dexter made a different decision that shocked everyone.
“You’re my son’s personal assistant, correct?”
“Consider this your official termination notice. You’re fired!”
To everyone watching, it probably looked like Dexter had been out of the business world too long to read the situation clearly.
But I knew the truth – he was making a desperate last-ditch effort to save his family.
I grabbed a prime spot to watch the show and let him take center stage.
Dexter didn’t disappoint me.
Right there in front of his entire staff, he completely lost his composure and started screaming at his son.
“Louis Johnson! As the founder of Johnson Corporation, I’m ordering you to apologize to Miss Bennett right fucking now!”
“If you keep acting like a stubborn piece of shit, I’ll write you out of my will and disown you completely!”
He straightened his posture and positioned himself protectively in front of me.
Dexter’s ultimatum was the final straw that broke everyone’s resolve.
Caught between the company’s reputation and his own father, Louis went completely silent.
As the tension reached its peak and the crowd went quiet, I slowly stood up.
‘An apology won’t be necessary.”
‘I think my relationship with the Johnson family has run its course.”
