Chapter 11
One day, while I was waiting for Daniel to pick me up at the company gate after work, I saw a man who looked strikingly similar to Miles again. To confirm my suspicion, I followed him without hesitation.
The man seemed to be leading me, whether intentionally or unintentionally, to a deserted place. When he stopped, I realized I had been brought to the very same alley from that night.
Slowly, the man turned his head and revealed that very familiar face. I was not dreaming. It was undoubtedly Miles.
“I could feel a vague gaze following me lately. It’s you, Miles Vaughn.”
That sentence was a statement and Miles did not deny it.
“Daniel said you were sent abroad. So why are you here?”
I asked, voicing the doubts that had been swirling in my mind. Miles answered quickly.
He laughed as if it was funny.
“My foolish brother wanted to throw me into a foreign arena to die through all kinds of torture, but I’m smarter than that. I escaped quietly and smuggled myself back here.”
As he spoke, Miles gradually closed the distance between us.
“Lulu, I did all this just for you. Daniel is destined to be trampled under my feet in this life. Now that you’re by my side, I am the real winner.”
Looking at Miles’s wild smile, I felt something was terribly wrong and wanted to retreat.
However, he stopped me first.
“Lulu, don’t run, and don’t try to call for help. There’s no one else here but me.”
“Aren’t you afraid that Daniel will seek revenge on you?”
Upon hearing my words, Miles did not show a trace of fear.
“Daniel still believes I died in that foreign arena. He would never have imagined that his missing wife was in my hands.”
Desperately, he dragged my head and hair into a corner.
“Lulu, tonight I will sow my seed inside you and erase all traces of Daniel. After this night, you will belong to me forever.”
“Ah, right. Weren’t you jealous of Monica? Now I’ll make you pregnant with my children, eight or ten will do.”
My resistance was completely useless in Miles’s grasp. He pinned me down firmly and tore at my clothes violently.
“You don’t like me at all, you just want to win against your brother.”
Whether it was when drawing lots or now, Miles looked at me with a fierce determination to win.
He was exposed by me and no longer tried to hide it.
“That’s right, I wanted to defeat Daniel since we were children. Why did I have better grades than him, yet our mother only had eyes for him and praised him endlessly? Why was I always first in
12:36 pm
class, but the girls and teachers only ever paid attention to him?”
“I hated Daniel so much. Later, I successfully killed my mother and entered the Westbrook Family, and I even snatched away his favorite woman, that is, you. But why did it all end up ir
vain?”
“Clearly, he can’t compare to me in anything!”
Hearing this, I could not help but refute it.
“You’re talking nonsense! Do you know why your mother didn’t like you? Because you were born a bad seed, and you don’t deserve to be loved by anyone…”
Before I could finish speaking, Miles slapped me.
The slap was brutal and my face was knocked to the side.
“Shut up, you have no right to speak!”
After shouting at me, he straddled me, attempting to dominate me.
But just then, the sound of sirens came from far away.
Soon, a large group of police officers rushed in and subdued Miles.
Daniel also rushed to my side without delay.
He examined me carefully, his hands trembling.
“I’m sorry, I came too late. Actually, I already knew that Miles had secretly returned to this country. I only told you otherwise to avoid alerting the enemy. It was my fault for letting you fall into danger.”
“Well, everything ended well, so I won’t blame you.”
After hearing my words of forgiveness, Daniel walked over to the disheveled and restrained Miles and struck him with his fists over and over again.
He did not stop until Miles was on the verge of death.
“Do you know what our mother said to me before she died? She said she didn’t blame you for killing her, and she apologized for making you feel like she was biased. She said it was her fault, and she asked me not to hate you, and to take good care of you…”
“If it weren’t for our mother’s last words, I would have beaten you to death a long time ago!”
“How could she…”
Hearing Daniel’s words, Miles’s expression turned completely lifeless.
“How could this happen? Mom, how could you do this to me?”
Miles seemed to go mad.
When he was finally taken into the police car, my heart finally settled down.
Looking at the people around me, I saw that our hands were tightly clasped together.
