Mister, You’re Blushing

The door slammed open with a loud crash.
The needle poised to pierce Candice’s thigh stopped mid–air.
A room full of degenerates frose in terror and turned toward the door. Nome tried to run but barely took a step before being tackled to the ground by black–clad security. They were draped out like dead animals, some with towels slippin off, crawling naked across the floor. The scene was downright grotesque,
The whole operation was swift and clean.
No one dared to look at the bed.
The housekeeping supervisor who followed the team in was the first to act. She rushed over, covered Candice with clothing, untied her bound hands, and after quieldy checking her condition, went out to report.
Outside, Charlie Clemens‘ expression was cold as ice, “How is she?”
“Luckily we arrived in time. Physically, she’s fine. But… she seems disoriented. Likely in shock”
Charlie stepped into the room.
Inside, silence reigned.
On the bed, the woman huddled in his coat, her long hair disheveled and spilling around her face. Her cheeks were bloodless, lips tinged red, body trembling. She looked like a rose crushed in a snowstorm–broken, but heartbreakingly
beautiful.
He leaned in and gently touched her cheek.
The next second, her soft face pressed into his palm, maling it as if seeking warmth.
Charlie froze.
Just as he tried to pull his hand away, her tightly closed eyes fluttered open. She gased up at him, dased and vulnerable, like a wounded fawn on the brink of death.
His heart clenched. With his other hand, he softly stroked her head. “It’s okay. No one’s groting to hurt you anymore

“Don’t cry…” Charlie, clearly unused to comforting people, sounded awkward. But the more he told her not to cry, the
harder she cried.
Outside the room, even Jim felt a lump in his throat hearing the weeping.
The housekeeping supervisor still hadn’t left. Jim turned to her, voice cold: “Tonight’s events must not leak. If there’s
even a whisper, your hotel will be held responsible.”
She nodded frantically. Offending a powerful man like Mr. Clemens wasn’t an option, and with the incident happening
under their roof, they’d be lucky not to face a lawsuit.
Charlie carried Candice out through a side exit.
On the way to the hospital, she kept crying. Her tears soaked through the front of his shirt.
He sighed inwardly.
There wasn’t much he could do with her in this state. She sat on his lap, clinging to him, sobbing against his chest. He
held her the whole way, letting her cry her heart out.
She cried for over half an hour.
He used up an entire pack of tissues wiping her tears and snot.
At last, she quieted.
She leaned against his shoulder, eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
As the car rounded a curve, her face tipped forward from the inertia, brushing his throat with her soft lips.
Charlie held his breath.
Expressionless, he gently nudged her head back into place.
At the hospital, Jim was shocked. “Young Master, why’s your face so red? Are you hot?”
“…You talk too much,” Charlie replied coolly.
Jim blinked in confusion.
Why is he angry again?
They had come to a private hospital, and Charlie had called ahead. The staff were already waiting. As soon as the car

12:30 a.m.
In the hospital room.
Candice slowly came to, emerging from the haze.
She turned her head and saw Charlie seated beside her.
His shirt was rumpled, sleeves rolled up, collar open three buttons down–he looked like he’d just run a marathon in
business attire.
“Mr. Clemens…”
Her voice was hoarse, nasal.
“Do you remember what happened?” Charlie asked.
“…Yes,”
She gave him a bitter smile.
From the attack to his rescue, she’d been disoriented, but not unconscious.
“Thank you. Really. I owe you my life.”
Without him, she probably wouldn’t be alive.
Charlie’s gaze was dark and unreadable. “I have a good–news–bad–news situation. Which one do you want first?”
“Both.”
“The good news is, you weren’t assaulted. The drug was just a sedative–no long–term harm. And the needle didn’t get in.” He paused. “The bad news… this was orchestrated by your boyfriend.”
“I know…”
Candice lowered her head. Her hands twisted tightly in the blanket.
Charlie didn’t judge her feelings. “You were here tonight partly because of me. I’ve detained those people. Whether you want to call the police or settle it privately, I’ll back you up.”
“You’ve already done so much,” she said, lifting her eyes. “I’ll handle the rest on my own.”
“You’re sure?”

Charlie chuckled quietly, almost amused.
Just then, the phone on the table rang.
It was Candice’s.
He handed it to her.
Seeing her dad’s name on the screen made her heart sink.
It was almost 1 a.m. Her parents must’ve been worried sick..
She cleared her throat and answered, “Dad.”
“Candice, where are you?”
“I’m… at a club with some friends.”
“Your mom’s worried sick. Come home, okay?”
“Okay, I’m heading back now.”
She hung up, throat aching with unshed tears.
If what almost happened to her tonight had really occurred… what would her parents do? How devastated would they
be?
She turned to Charlie. “Can you take me home?”
He hesitated. “You really want to go back looking like this? Won’t your parents notice?”
Candice joked weakly, “If I don’t go home, my mom won’t sleep. I have to…” Her eyes reddened again.
She took a deep breath, trying to hold back the sob welling in her throat. “I don’t know why I’m about to cry again. So embarrassing.”
“If you want to cry, just cry. I’ve seen plenty already–one more time won’t make a difference.”

She blinked at him, speechless.

Still groggy, Sophia instantly snapped awake.
