Chapter 23 Kyle Wants to Kill Mia Jones
Candice fell hard to the ground.
Kyle hadn’t even recovered from the shock of Candice asking for a divorce when Mia Jones’s vile words struck him like a
bolt of lightning.
“Kyle, she’s filthy now! Last night, she slept with eight men–one of them even has AIDS! She’s dirty, ruined, she’s a
complete whore! Are you still going to want her after that?”
Mia Jones spat her venom, her voice shrill with jealousy and spite. She was so consumed by bitterness that she didn’t
even realize she was confessing to a crime—something that could put her behind bars. She only cared about making
Kyle hate Candice.
The entire banquet hall froze.
Eight men in one night? One of them HIV–positive?
Could that be true?
But then, a key question emerged in everyone’s minds: how would Mia Jones know so many details?
Caroline Jenkins’s body visibly swayed, her face draining of color like a corpse.
Candice had already pushed herself up off the ground. She looked at Mia like she was something rotting in the gutter. “I
haven’t even come to settle the score with you yet, and you’ve already confessed. You’re not just evil–you’re stupid.‘
Then she turned to Caroline Jenkins. “This is your hand–picked noble young lady? The ideal daughter–in–law you’re so
proud of? Someone who can commit crimes with you, stand trial with you, and rot in prison with you?”
Caroline’s throat bobbed, but she couldn’t get a word out.
Kyle’s expression turned murderous. His eyes were as dark and suffocating as a storm about to erupt.
The Jones family looked visibly uneasy now.
And the guests began to put the pieces together. Was it possible… that Mia and Caroline had conspired to set Candice up?
That would explain why Candice crashed the engagement party like this, and why her wrist was injured—it wasn’t just a breakup tantrum. Something brutal had happened to her.
No matter how wild or promiscuous someone might be, no one would willingly sleep with eight men in one night– especially not knowing one had a disease. It would take a sick mind to force someone through that.

Before Mia could finish, Kyle lunged forward and grabbed her by the throat.
He dragged her in front of him, his eyes filled with blazing hatred. “What did you do to her? What the hell did you do?!”
His roar was thunderous. The pain on his face was almost unbearable.
Mia choked and struggled under his grip, finally realizing–he might actually kill her.
The Jones brothers rushed in to pull Kyle off her, forcing his hand away and shielding Mia behind them.
“Calm down, Kyle,” Mike said. “My sister probably just made something up in the heat of the moment.”
Belinda, the Jones family’s third daughter, stepped up to defend Mia too. “Even if it were true, you can’t just accuse Mia
without proof! What if Candice went out partying and got caught by someone, and the rumors made their way to Mia?
She probably said something out of fear. Maybe Candice set this whole thing up as a sympathy ploy!”
Candice almost laughed. But she didn’t bother arguing with Belinda. There was no need.
Some people still needed to finish their performance.
Sure enough, hearing her sister defend her, Mia wiped her tears and looked pitiful. “Kyle, I would never do such a thing!
It was my best friend–she saw Miss Hale enter a hotel room. Before that, she saw several men go in, including a well-
known promiscuous guy who has a disease.”
“I wasn’t going to say anything… but she forced my hand with the way she just acted.”
“In love, there’s no such thing as who came first. Even if they were married, their relationship was dead. What Kyle and
I have is real love. She’s the one who got in between us. She should be the one to back off!”
That twisted logic made half the women in the room want to vomit.
Especially the wealthy wives–dealing with mistresses was practically their full–time job. Mia’s words didn’t win them over. Quite the opposite–they wanted to slap her across the face.
But no one wanted to offend the Jones family directly, so they held back.
Kyle’s voice dropped to a frigid, deathly calm. “Can you take responsibility for what you just said?”
He was referring to her denial of the setup.

“I swear I swear on my life!” Mia said solemnly. “If I’m lying, may my guts rot and may I die a painful death!”

She shot Candice a triumphant look. Go on, produce some evidence if you can. If you had any, you’d have used it already, wouldn’t you?
Those men can’t be tracked down. After what you went through, you don’t even have the strength to get out of bed, let alone gather evidence.
So what if you cause a scene? So what if Kyle is mad right now? He’ll calm down–and in the end, I’ll still be the one standing by his side.
Her vicious oath made even some of the onlookers hesitate.
Madam Jones, emboldened, began unleashing a torrent of insults at Candice. Every word was harsher than the last.
Caroline Jenkins, however, stayed oddly silent.
Candice stood there, eerily composed.
She waited until everyone was done speaking, then stepped forward gracefully, stopping in the center of the hall. She
fixed her eyes on Mia and slowly repeated her words:
“May your guts rot and may you die a painful death.”
She shook her head. “You really don’t believe in karma, do you?”
Then, she pulled out her phone and tapped a few times.
Suddenly, Mia’s voice filled the banquet hall:
“Kyle doesn’t want to talk to you… Did you enjoy the men I arranged for you? Guess what–one of them has HIV… Later, they’ll give you a special injection for some extra fun…”
“Tomorrow, the footage of your night with eight men will go viral… Oh, and by the way, Kyle and I will be announcing our engagement tomorrow… Even if you go to the police, it’s useless. In Vanclyn, our families could squash you like an
ant…”
“Yeah, I stole your man and your job… But I’ll still live happily ever after with Kyle. You? You’ll die slowly, in agony.
Lol…”
That twisted, deranged laughter echoed through the room.
Halfway through the audio, the Jones family tried to snatch Candice’s phone, but a young male guest stepped in to block
them.

Too far. That was the only thought on everyone’s mind.
When the recording ended, the entire hall fell silent again.

Mia’s face had gone ghostly pale. She trembled under Kyle’s gaze, which looked ready to flay her alive.
She hadn’t expected Candice to have a recording.
Now she couldn’t talk her way out of it.
Kyle wouldn’t want her anymore.
Panicked, she suddenly pointed at Caroline and shrieked, “It was Auntie Caroline! She made me do it!”
