Chapter 24
Mia cursed in fury, “You bitches were sent by that wretch, Vivienne, weren’t you?”
The words had barely left her mouth when a heavy slap landed across her face. The women were all trained fighters and didn’t hold back–just one slap knocked Mia to the floor.
They stood towering above her, looking down with cold disdain. “Watch your mouth. Who are you calling a wretch?”
Mia had never been humiliated in such a manner before. Having never suffered such a loss before, she started cursing viciously, her fury drowning out all reason. “I’m talking about that wretch, Vivienne! That vile, scheming whore! Why didn’t she drown when she fell in that pool?”
Another brutal slap landed on her cheek.
Stars danced before Mia’s eyes as her head buzzed from impact. One of the women yanked her up by the hair.
“Repeat yourself. Who’s the wretch?”
Her hatred for Vivienne had already reached its peak. She gritted her teeth and spat, “Vivienne… She’s the wretch!”
At that, another harsh slap struck Mia’s face. Her teeth were nearly knocked loose, but she still refused to take her words back.
At that moment, a familiar woman’s voice came from the doorway. “Is Mia here yet?”
Hearing Vivienne’s voice, the woman gripping Mia’s hair immediately released her grip. “She’s here, Madam.”
The cold expressions of the women in black instantly faded into warmth when they turned toward Vivienne. They looked more like the friendly girls next door. These women were once her personal bodyguards, assigned to protect her safety and well–being. After she married Sebastian, she dismissed them.
The lead bodyguard stepped forward, explaining, “Madam, you don’t have to dirty your hands this time. We’ll take care of her. Once we’re done, she won’t be able to trace a thing.”
They said those words openly right in front of Mia, almost driving her mad with rage. Were they planning to silence her without leaving any evidence?
She lifted her head and glared at Vivienne, her eyes filled with malice. “Vivienne,” she hissed. “Lay a finger on me, and I swear, I’ll make your life a living hell.” Vivienne raised her eyebrows slightly. “Oh? And how exactly are you going to do that?”
Mia stared at her viciously, as if she wanted to tear her apart. “Sebastian won’t let you get away with this!”
Vivienne laughed. “Then, tell him. I’d love to see what he plans to do with me.‘

She walked up to Mia and slowly crouched to meet her gaze. Her voice was cold and serene as she continued, “Even if he doesn’t let me off the hook, what can he do? Do you think I’m afraid of him? If he dares make my life a living hell, I’ll drag every last one of you down with me.‘

At the mention of Sebastian, not a trace of affection could be found in Vivienne’s eyes–only disdain. She no longer cared what he thought.
Anyone who stood in her way was her enemy, and that also included Sebastian.
“Vivienne, you’re only this arrogant because you’re still Mrs. Holt,” Mia sneered. “Without the Holts, you are nothing. Would you still be so smug by then?”
The bodyguards exchanged glances, all showing subtle looks of contempt. The Holts were nothing compared to the Lockharts.
Vivienne didn’t bother explaining. Instead, she simply replied, “You’re right. I am riding on the power of being Mrs. Holt. As for you…”
She glanced down at Mia with cold eyes. “You’ll always be someone else’s lapdog. And that’s all you’ll ever be
